Does anyone have a Flatbed Microwave oven?

I'm not sure how you live, like that, Holly.
;) 😄
I guess you probably also don't enjoy the similar delicacy of Tater Tots, either, then.:ROFLMAO:

Thank you for those important additional details you provided on that subject, @Murrmurr (y):giggle:
The marker idea was the best of your valuable suggestions.😁😄😆
what the actual... is a Tater Tot ?

I had a feeling you might ask that. :giggle:
So, it's likely another of those snacking meal inventions that we have, here.

Sort of the same as chicken nuggets; only they start with shreded potato's inside. :):D
like potato fritters ?

Well I've had the flatbed MW for a week now. I love it. It's not only a third size of my previous MW.. it's also lightweight when opening the door. The previous one was big and when I opened the door it would literally move the MW.. so I had to keep a gripper sheet underneath. This one is very lightweight and doesn't suffer from the same thing..altho' both MW's are made by Sharp...

I'm still getting used to not seeing anything revolving as it's heating...quite amusing.

They've been out for a while.. about 3 years or more..

They differ in that they don't have a turntable, so the heating is much more uniform.. and of course they're very much easier to clean.

I've read all good reviews about them, so since I I was thinking of changing my microwave oven I've been considering the flatbed..

I prefer a microwave without the turntable but most here in the us have them.

this has been great tbh. At first I had to get used to the lack of turning because there is no turntable so when you're used to the cup going around it's a bit strange to see it not moving.. and also I thought I may have a problem with cold spots in the food .. but no it's all been fine, and no rattling of a glass turntable as I've had in the past and none to clean either..

ETA, I'm shocked to see how long I've had it now... I can't beieve it's been over a year..wow !

I already have an AF..this is my third one actually. The first one was a tower which was one of the cheapest because I didn't know if I'd use it... then I upgraded after abut 2 years to a nicer one.... but still only one drawer.... I really wanted the double drawer, but the ninja is far too expensive.. £200 /£300..or more.. so I kept looking and I found one after a while that was a generic supermarket one..identical to the Ninja and just around £60...

so that's what I use now. I would give up my stove before I gave uup the AF and microwave... . the AF uses way less oils, cooks in 2/3rd of the time of an electric or gas stove... and retains much more of the moistness in the food...

This is interesting. Rotate the motor and not the food.

"Microwave ovens don’t need a turntable. The ones that can come without turntables are called Flatbed Microwaves. These microwaves can heat up and cook food effectively. They have a rotating motor that drives the stirring blades under the flatbed, which distributes the waves evenly to heat the food."

My RV's microwave's turntable hasn't worked for about 7 years. It's built in, so not easy to replace, plus all RV appliances are specialty items, meaning expensive to purchase and have installed.

When using it for something other than beverages, I turn and/or stir the food halfway through - just as we did with pre-turntable MWs. It works just fine with no hot spots.

good that you found a way to make it work instead of paying fortune to replace it....

Bless our generational learning. Most in our age group observed our parents employing the old adage, "use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."

I also live by the belief that good enough is almost always good enough. Not everything needs to be perfect.

So if the motor stops working/rotating, how would I know?
