California communities using drones to catch illegal fireworks activity-fines

If the continuous explosions all around us from about 8 PM to midnight on Independence Day is anything to go by, the public in Los Angeles is very much opposed to fireworks regulations.

Oakland is a nightmare the entire month of July, this year was the worst ever--like living in a war zone. The cops do nothing, nobody else does a thing, even tho this is illegal and dangerous. I know of 2 fires that ensued on the 4th thanks to these amateur idiots. All the pets in the neighborhood are either freaked or tranquilized. And I couldn't sleep at all on the 4th. Even last nite, the 5th, I fell asleep and was awakened by a sound like a bomb. Send those drones over here! A better use for them than killing civilians.

Right there with you neighbor!

I wish they had them here also. Firecrackers are legal here (go figure) but not fireworks. However , idiots still shoot off fireworks in the tinder dry neighborhoods and the police can't give a citation unless the officer witnesses the idiots shooting off the fireworks. Drones would be great for being an "eye in the sky" witness. Plus, they could be programmed to be lit up with the red , white and blue colors while patrolling the skies.
