So frustrated at the few self-entitled folks here...

I don't like the report button either and I won't use it except in some sort of emergency or safety measure. But I'd rather be reported than PM'd. I'm here for discussion, not private talk.

I accept that. But it's not private talk for me, in this case it's merely clarification. I mean, you might interpret something I write as heinous, but given my overall posts, is that really what I meant, or just the way you saw it? Ask! That's all I'm saying.

I'm guessing Matrix hates having to step in and delete posts. Let's remember, we're all elderly adults here.

This thread frustates and angers me. NO, I don't think we should discuss politics, but occasionally, a person might say something which is construed as political and a BIG DEAL is made. Overkill. Punishment. People make mistakes, and shouldn't be whipped like a mad dog because they do.
Yep, plus as long as this thread has gone on, it's just become:

I wonder how many have read the posts the ADMIN made concerning politics?

From what I see, some seem to think their viewpoint on issues isn't political even though they may post links from politically biased source that clearly violate the no politics rule. From my understanding of the admins rule, to post a link that is political is no different than the poster typing out the same info.

I wonder how many read the articles in full that they post links to? I have read post where the author seemingly acts in good faith and what they type out violates no rule, but then reading the article they linked to, shows a heavy political bias and in many cases, mentions a political party or movement. This could be easily fixed, if all posters read the article in full, before posting. I think many see just the title that agrees with their ideas or beliefs, and they post it.

The sad thing is that most news stories, these days, seems to be reported with political bias.

Here is what the ADMIN posted ...
What qualifies as politics?

For now, our focus is on American partisan politics. If your post makes it obvious that you’re leaning toward one side (Democrats or Republicans), it counts as politics.

Makes sense, but we're not all Americans. For example, why should the same thing be allowed just because it's not American?

The few members here, especially some new members, that keep "beating the dead horse" are the only ones confused about addressing politics without bothering others. It really is NOT complicated to post non-offensively unless one, due to their internal emotions, is intent on demonizing persons and parties they dislike, as far as they can get away with doing.

So true about linking biased sources which as you point out are most American news stories. Even if the issue isn't overtly political, American polarized news outlets are going to spin it. Especially headlines. Posting an excerpt detailing the core issue leaving and out the spin seems to work okay here. I've done that a few times and it hasn't seemed to start a ruckus. Sometimes you do have to edit the url description to rephrase a biased headline.

I feel you have done that, on several occasions. Don't want to argue with you, but I think you have done this. Almost all of us has done that, I believe. Almost all. Ban the present membership and start all over again? Just joking but I feel I know most people's leanings from numerous things said, just add them together.

Let's not look so closely?

This entire thread is sour grapes from the get go.

"My political posts are sanitized to avoid breaking the rules, while others do post political content w/out concern so my sanitized political posts are deleted."

It's a distinction without a difference.
