This weekend, Aberdeen hosts the UK leg of the 'Tall ships race'. Magnificent sailing ships from as far away as Peru have sailed into Aberdeen. This is the only stop in the UK, so I expect that sailing enthusiasts from not only Scotland but other parts of the UK will be in Aberdeen this weekend.
As well as the ships, there is a huge festival with music, food, drink and crafts. With the exception of 2 concerts, the whole weekend is free.
I had considered visiting, but it looks to be absolutely crowded and the weather has been very changeable. If you want to get an idea of the event, Google the tall ships race 2025.
