Almost a classic car

Then problem with new cars is they have a lot of gadgets I'd be paying for and likely never use, and more importantly, they don't come in bright colors anymore.

However, it seems every year I have to spend hundreds of dollars to fix or replace something. Even now the AC doesn't work, but I do what they did in the "old" days - roll down the windows and let the breeze do the cooling. Okay if it isn't raining, but when it rains and I roll up the windows the windshield fogs up.

The first Honda Civic 4 Door was introduced in 1980. Before that, Honda only made typical Japanese versions of the ultra economy types. I had one of those pre four doors that did not perform up to Honda's claims for two years, I kept taking it back to the dealer who would spray lubricant on this or that, but I was always 8 mph to the gal short of Honda's claims, until I took it to a local mechanic who found a burr on the butterfly valve, which he simply filed off. Suddenly, my gas mileage upped by 10 mpg, and I was finally a happy camper.

So one day while happily driving, I came upon one of those ultra big bill boards that were common along highways. This one was introducing the new Honda 4 door that would eventually be available at dealerships in a few months. It was stunning to me. It looked like a real car, and since my previous Honda was finally running like a charm. We bought the 4 door. It was better than any car I had driven, at least up until that time, and I think I bought two more after that one, maybe three.

Today of course there are all kinds of cars that outdo the 1980 Civic. I wouldn't/couldn't even argue which is best, but Honda held my attention for 20 years or so. Today, I drive a Mazda. It's hard to find much fault with any of today's autos. They have changed so much in 40 years that they all seem like dream cars to me, well the few I have driven, anyway.

right... new cars do definitely come with a load of gadgets you may never use. My duaghters' car does...altho' she uses all her gadgets, but I wouldn't want it.... currently I have been given a brand new replacemnt car by the Insurance company..it's been sat out there for over a week..I can't drive it, but it's keyless, brake handle less.. and every gadget you can think of in it...

The car I'm going to look it in the showroom is just a basic car.. 3 years old 20k on the clock.. it has very basic stuff... air con, electric windows...rear parking camera, Bluetooth ... Dab radio.. and not much else tbh... which is why it's 2k cheaper than it's predecessor which is 3 years older thn it.. that they're selling.. so 6 years old.. same car... but has all the gadgets including heated seats and heated steering wheel..

So if I want all the gadgets, for the same model car... I would have to pay £2k more for an older version.... ...

I'm not stupid... !!
