Morning all...

Annoying start to the day...today...

Didn't get to sleep until late due to the pain in my ribs... and then got woken early with the phone ringing. It takes me a while to try and get out of bed, due to the pain in my ribs so by the time I got to it , it had rung off.. the district nurse left a message saying she had called, and I'd missed her.

Well, I wasn't expecting her.. I'm supposed to get a nurse 2 days a week.. and tbh, they've just arrived on whatever day... and on friday I hadn't seen a nurse for 5 days , so I called them and they said I was on the list for that day and sure enough a nurse came.. another one I'd not seen before... so as they'd been on Friday I wasn't expecting them today...

Then, I'd literally just thrown my dress on.. and the door knocked, and there was some guy there who wanted me to move my car from the road so he could get his truck in to chop a tree down in a house which is empty, back yard several houses away... ..... he'd got my other side neighbours outside nosing around as well... and this was the first they got to learn about my injuries and me all bandaged up..

I told the guy I can't move the car... and so there was all a big discussion with the neighbours about the stranger car which was actually the car which was in his way.. and causing him not to be able to park near the house..and who it belonged to.. and people calling from the next house.. ''how did you get your injury Holly''.... I hate all that... these neighbours are the news of the world.. so I don't like them knowing anything personal tbh... so I felt really annoyed with this guy thinking he had some right to make me move my car and then shouting for the whole road to hear 'SHE CAN"T, SHE"S GOT A BROKEN ARM'' ...and I'd just woken up.. as well

Well heck HollyDolly, some people don't put on their thinking
caps before speaking....sorry to start the day like that....hi monday
folks, I don't know what I'm up to, brain does not engage so
early without the cuppa you know....no def plans for the day yet,
so will just take it as it comes....all the best to all the best!! :(:cool::devilish::coffee:

@hollydolly Some items are going up in price, so I ordered toilet paper, Procter & Gamble products that are expecting to increase in price and coffee that is supposed to go up, too. Not sure all of the products, I just see it on the news with these products and they blame tariffs affecting their products.

This is not meant to be political.

Good morning. It's another rainy and cool day here, 64F right now with an expected high of only 68F. I had to put on a robe to be comfortable sitting on the patio with my coffee.

I'm quickly running out of things to do (i.e., optimize!). Really. What's there to do in just under 300sf?

No it's clearly not a politcal statement.. or discussion... don't worry...
I hope your fears of a much higher tariff on those goods don't come to fruition, but you're like me.. someone who likes to be well prepared ...

Calling a garage to see if I can get my car inspected this week. I have a ten day permit when I got my new registration. In Florida we didn’t have inspections. Just another NY way to get more money from us.
we have them in the whole of the UK, every 12 months, and they are really comprehensive. if they fail on anything, then we're not allowed to drive the car until it's fixed... even if it's just a faulty headlight..it can fail it....

Here's the whole list of things that we need to do every 12 months to have our car pass it's MOT.. and we have to pay for it as well... and any repairs on top...

MOT checklist and guide - how to pass the MOT | RAC Drive

All its electrical equipment, steering, tyres (including tread depth, pressure and condition), and suspension. It will also assess the brakes (including pedals and efficiency), seat belts and seats, exhaust and emissions, wipers and windscreen, rear-view and wing mirrors, and your vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Also in the uk we have to pay an Annual Tax to drive the car on a public road... to buy that tax we need to have a current MOT pass certificate.. without it we can't buy car tax.. so either way if the car fails it's MOT... we can't drive it on a public road...

I haven’t had an inspection in over 25 years so I don’t know how involved ours are anymore. I’m told the inspection cost $37 dollars now . Years ago it was $3. New York, land of taxes.

Hiking before it gets hot. The sun rises from behind the San Bernardino Mountains. We left at 6:00 and were back
by 7:20 with the temperature being in the low sixties. A little bit hazy but wonderful, refreshing hiking weather.

I love nature and call this "coyote country." I didn't see any today. They are usually active at night and are probably already
sleeping hidden in the canyons. I used to hike down there but am afraid that now I won't be able to make it back out again.
My ten-year old, 96 pound heavy Boxer "Ross" doesn't make it anymore but still joins us on our evening walks.

Strays? No, probably belonging to homeless people living in ravines.................. And a dove basking in the first sunrays.

Most homeless people are not really poor; they merely can't afford the rental places. I just saw signs at our shopping
plaza, "house for rent $3,650/month" and that's nothing special.

We only have exhaust smog checks every 2 years, and only after a car is six years old. Checks are performed by
licensed private business for about $50 with the data directly transmitted to the DMV. @hollydolly when I still lived in
Berlin/Germany, car inspections were similar to those as in England.

By chance, I discovered that prescription 5% Lidocaine patches are great for sciatica that I have occasionally.

At noon I have a dentist appointment to check #2 that last week gave me twice mild pain. Just checking whether
something is developing that was not seen during my semi-annual checkups.

Well the district nurse came back again.. about 4pm... I'd just sat down to have a little hot lunch on a tray in front of the tv.. when she arrived....

Anyway.. she says the hand is healing really well... this particular nurse hasn't seen me for a fortnight, so she was delighted to see how well it's coming along.. She said we can no longer see the tendons.. ..whch is great news...

Anyway , it's all re-dressed again until Thursday...

Thank god I'm such a fast healer.. because now at 70 years old... this is when I needed it the most.......I wish my ribs would heal as fast

Yesterday I walked 45 minutes doing the inner circumference of the back field of my park. Today I will push it to one hour. Doc wants me walking two hours every day. It's a beautiful day, thank goodness. A pleasure to be out in sun without high humidity. Air quality bad today, due to wildfires in (((Canada)))
And they want you walking outside in that bad air?

On my early walk at 6:45 this morning temp was 64, was looking briefly at the sun it was bright orange, couldn't figure out why. Then I remembered there was another air quality alert today for most of WNY due to the wild fires in Canada.
This morning I took the bus went to Kohl's looking for new pair of New Balance sneakers. I was there a couple months ago tried on a pair thought they fit well, bought them. I wore them for a day or so but realized they were too big, took them back The ones in bought today fit well
The rest of my day,I took a mid morn & afternoon walk around the building, read today's NYT
After dinner will tackle today;s crossword puzzle see what's interesting to watch on TV

Good morning. Yes, I am up early. And yes, it's blessedly cool again, cool enough for a robe to sit outside with coffee. Woohoo and stuff.

Our high temp yesterday was 66, I think. Heat wave today with a high temp of 71. Fine with me. I'll get tired of it soon enough.

Gotta think of something to optimize today.

ETA: I thought of something. Yay me. I have forget-me-not seeds that I meant to plant ages ago, and according to the seed packet, they're still good. There's a ring around the base of a river birch tree where only half of what was planted last year came up so I'm gonna plant these on the other half and will have little blue blossoms next spring.
