What have you bought recently?

I beat my most loved tool for the yard to death and the handle split and said enough. My beloved Leaf Blower, has bit the dust and now rests in an unmarked grave, I hope the new one I ordered doesn't sense how much it will be used.

apparently chinese are Chit..... @Bretrick recently bought an MG.. and offloaded it quicksmart for another car.. I don't know if it was Chinese built, but he's the one to speak to...

According to whatcar.com.. the MG..all models came 34 out of 34.. for reliability

I think my MG was a lemon. Many times after stopping at an intersection and making a right hand turn it would drop out of gear and I would be left stranded in the intersection.
Dealer did not want to know anything about it.

Not surprised from what I've read... after looking on HC's behalf... 34th out of 34... in the whatcar.com ratings... that's pretty terrible...

these comments from Reddit....

1.
I noticed they're the top selling car of Jan and Feb in the UK and can't quite believe it. Why would someone buy this horrific Chinese piece of junk, do people not research cars before they buy them?! Not only that but it's run by the Chinese state govt now, it's not a UK brand.

2.
They’re cheap, very cheap. And people think they’re British still so they appeal to older people. They do come with a lot of tech too, I’ve currently got an MG HS sat outside as a hire car and it’s got adaptive cruise, lane keeping, automatic high beams, a panoramic sun roof, plus the usual Apple CarPlay
, heated seats etc.
None of it works very well mind, and the driving experience, seating position and ergonomics are all dreadful,

3.
The latest batch, particularly the MG4 and the latest Zs EV, actually get decent write-ups AFAIK and are much cheaper than any of their rivals. They remain one of, if not the cheapest ways into a long-range EV to date.
Wouldn't ever buy one myself, but their prices put others to shame - even if they are, ultimately, crap. Especially seeing as they're rammed full of tech, even as standard.

Drove by the dealership this afternoon to take a picture of my new to me 2023 Jeep Compass Latitude Lux (on left in pic) and the 2003 Jeep Liberty (on right in pic) I traded in. I had bought the Liberty new in 2003, so had it for some 22yrs. Had the Liberty so long it felt like family and had to give it a name. Ruby ... Ruby Jeep. And since I had named the old Jeep, I named this new Jeep. Judy ... Judy Jeep :ROFLMAO:

Part of the purchase deal was to have the dealership install an OEM Trailer Hitch Receiver & Wiring Harness. I don't have an immediate or often recurring need to tow anything but it's a nice to have. Never know when I might need to haul something across town in my small utility trailer.

OEM Tow package parts should be at the dealership first of the week and once on hand, will schedule the install.

All new linens, mattress pad and pillows and cases for my bed.
I'm thinking I should have bought a mattress and box spring, too.
It's overdue.
I bought a new bed last November, ..the Divan base , 12 inch deep ortho mattress, and picked out the headboard style and colour that I wanted and they covered it in the same material as the bed base and divan drawers...

I'm envious, @Naturally! I love Jeeps. The best car we ever had was a Jeep Cherokee Sport. I loved it so much. I can't afford a new car right now, but I'd buy a Jeep in a second. (And we name our cars, too: I've dubbed my old 2006 RAV4 "Scuffy" because it's rather beat up. 😁)

The last thing I bought was two little pink outfits for my little granddaughter, who should be arriving in early October. Here's one of them:

As most of you know on this forum...I have a LOT of footwear.. and among that prob, 20 pairs of trainers .... skechers, Levi, Adidas, etc... however the only slip on trainers I own .. are cheap ones I use in preference to slippers around the house, because they're safer than slippers... but they're not great quality like my other trainers.

One pair of the 2 pairs of slip ons I have that are good quality... were a pair of navy that I wearing in the car crash....that leaves me with just one pair of pink... slip ons.. and the rest are all lace up.. so I've just ordered another pair of quality slip ons, in white... while I have only the use of one hand essentially.. and can't tie laces...

After debating for a couple of weeks about whether to buy a pair of Skecher’s Slip-ins, I ordered them because they were size 4.5. They arrived and were size 5. I’d already sent a similar pair back. these are going back too. Grrr.

Well on the bright side, it was not an expensive lesson. The oxygen concentrator did not work, so I contacted Amazon. I was to find out at this time that devices such as this, for health reasons, CANNOT be returned.

Now I was thinking "Well I guess I'm screwed out of the money, $290.25. however I looked at the reviews and I saw that one said that she had gotten her money back because she couldn't contact the seller.

I then contacted Amazon, their customer service is based out of India, and so I asked for a refund and they said "no problem in 3 to 5 days you should have it"

So my creditor will be informed of that refund which I guess it'll go back to them since it was through affirm. But it was a lesson for me, that home health products, cannot ever be returned due to health reasons. So it's more of a buyer beware.

Anyway, I'm going to be waiting to see what else I can get in trouble with. But for now I'm just going to chill out until all the dust settles.

Well normally I wouldn't have posted so soon after, but this is kind of hilarious. Now everybody knows I live out of my vehicle, nice big van. So I had bought that oxygen concentrator and I had a inverter of 400 watts. The concentrator works on a 120 volt system, so the wattage would have been acceptable.

However it was not, UNLESS, the engine was running. So what I found out was that yes the machine does work, but for my situation, it doesn't help because I have to run my motor to fully operate it electrically.

Now on the bright side is I've got my money back I already checked with my purchasing affiliate (Affirm) and they have of course moved the $290.25 off my credit, so I now have more buying power "Danger Will Robinson! Danger!"

So over in my neck of the woods, we have a thing called "The Caring Closet" where one can go and donate medical equipment that is still usable. They're more for hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers and other such devices.

So I don't know how they're going to react when I bring in that oxygen concentrator, I still have the instruction and boxes and such they can decide what they want to do with it, I truly hope that someone is in need of such a thing and those in the shop will call them and let them know their day has just been brightened.

So I'll find out tomorrow. Life is just such a roller coaster lately, I'm just waiting for the loop de loop! 😂😂😂

Jeeps are cool. I have a friend who has sold used cars for years. The last time I was looking for a car the first one he brought out was a beautiful black Jeep. Unfortunately my arthritis does not allow me to climb comfortably up such big steps.

Did something totally out of character for me. At a weekend dinner, at the end I mentioned to DIL that the server was wearing a really subtle, lovely lip stain. She said she’d been thinking the same thing and said we should ask her the brand. So I did when we were leaving. She was so sweet and so thrilled to bits that I asked her. She‘d just bought it. Even though I know it won’t be the same as on her, I bought some today. NYX is a Canadian company and this one product is made in France. An inexpensive pick-me-up.

My genius brother (really he IS. He took after our father) Has been here all week fixing things that that were out of my realm of expertise.

That meant I was buying all sorts of parts and when buying all sorts of parts for anything that is 20 years or older, you usually end up making more than one trip to town. That means 30 miles round-trip every time.

1. New stems in the 22 year old garden tub faucets. That took two trips to one town and thankfully the folks who waited on my brother at the old True Value store, old being the operative, knew what they were talking about and were able to help him. It’s the kind of parts store that every backyard repair person loves because there were boxes full of ancient parts covered in dust shoved them back corners lol lol. My brother had a field day in there.

2. Those lug nuts that kept coming loose on my 2003 Saturn finally got looked at by a pro — my brother. I tried to tell the tire shop this was not the first time they came loose and needed re-tightened. The tire shop manager glossed right over what I said and knowingly informed me if they came loose again I would have to bring the car back in so they could look at it - gee ya THINK!?

2.1. Well, my brother looked at them. Those Lugnuts overtime were worn/warped/out of round, whatever you want to call it. He took one and went to O’Reilly’s. They were three short of having enough for all four tires, but that’s OK because it was the front ones that were always coming loose so that’s fixed thanks to my brother. That was one trip to town in the other direction.

3. He got my Farm tractor running, but he thinks the injectors are plugged because of the way it’s behaving which is too complicated to explain on here. Suffice it to say the tractor is a 1969 and has a “few” hours on it. A few of you would understand it, but most wouldn’t so it’s not worth the effort. At any rate, there was a trip to town for more injector cleaner.

He did get the main pasture cut for me for which my horses are eternally grateful. I am also eternally grateful after one of my neighbors took a picture of a timber rattler down at the other end of the road, that I posed on here yesterday. That neighbor said that’s only the second rattlesnake he has seen on this road in the 40 years he’s lived here. That makes me feel warm and fuzzy-not.

I worry because it’s down where all the new houses were built and they’re taking land away from the wildlife so everything is on the move. I hope the last hill to the top where I live is too steep for that snake to climb all the way up here because it’s only about a mile and a half away.

4. My Kawasaki Prairie came back repaired - it needed a carburetor rebuild that was done at the motorsport shop. The owner of the motorsports shop told me that my Kawasaki Prairie is in exceptionally good condition, that most of them have bit the bullet by now. Parts are really hard to get for them, which is why it took him so long to fix it.

My Honda Rancher wasn’t running either, and his price was so reasonable on the Kawasaki. I said just load that Honda up and take it with you. He said parts for the Honda were really easy to get, it shouldn’t take as long to get it fixed and probably wouldn’t cost as much money.

5. While my brother was here, I loaded up on horse feed so he could get it out of the car and put it away for me.😂😂

My 30 year-old horse is a hard keeper and eats about 8 pounds of feed daily. The little Arab is an air fern and only eats about 2 pounds daily - just enough to get his vitamins and minerals. The little Arab needs to lose what the 30 year old needs to gain, but that’s another story.

6. And of course there were groceries to buy that I don’t normally buy because my brother is 19 years younger than me and can eat a whole lot different than I have to eat these days lol lol. But he was worth every stinking rotten penny —- I love that kid.❤️❤️.

Brother is a plumber by trade, jobs were backing up, and he actually has a lifelong marriage where they miss each other ❤️❤️. They met in college and have been together ever since.

So, as the old Collin Raye song goes “that’s my story and I’m sticking to it“ 💸🥸💸🥸💸

P.S. I am happy to repost the timber rattler photo if anyone missed it and is interested 😂😂
