I'm not sure what it means to me, Jace so I'll just go with the first thing that comes to mind:

"Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops." [Luke 12, verse 3, KJV]

There are really no secrets, except maybe just for awhile.

Yes, that's what I understood it to mean.
Now, if the expression was, "Don't say something that people shouldn't hear", that would mean something else altogether...:)
 
Well, if you say something that people can't hear, it either means you're alone, or in a room with deaf people.
Either way, whatever you say won't matter. It's a moo point (Like a cow's opinion .... it doesn't matter).
