Oh yes, me and my ex, and my daughter know that first cassette stand-up Eddie Murphy did word-for word. For actual laugh-out-loud funny, my favorite was Eddie Murphy. I also really liked George Carlin, especially after he left Saturday Night Live, and Steven Wright. Woody Allen's stand-up routines made me laugh, but not so much his movies.
A few years ago, after doing some research I realized just how many shows the three stooges actually did, found out there was a complete set of all available, around $70. A good purchase, all these years and there were Many shows I'd never seen. A great way to unwind, to sit and watch some of those! When I was a kid the 'Three Stooges' were my favorite. As I got older, I enjoyed Jerry Lewis most of all.
His brain speed was superhuman.I remember the first time I saw Robin Williams on Happy Days. He played a space alien Mork from Ork. I had never laughed that hard at a TV comedian. He was something totally new. He got his own show soon after called Mork & Mindy. One of the best improv comedians ever.
They did great shows, and were a riot. I played in the orchestra for their Summer Special-- must have been '70 or '71. Chad Stuart (of Chad & Jeremy) was the musical director. I didn't get the chance to meet Tommy, but I did meet Dick, who was a real nice guy. I tried to talk him into some financing for a rock opera we were working on, but he was too involved in auto racing.I loved this show, and little did I know back then I would have 3 sons doing their own skit to the youngest one on this very theme.

The Smothers Brothers
George BurnsI have been trying to remember the name of that Husband and Wife team, her name was Gracie. She was so funny and he was so great at being the straight faced one.
