I'm beginning to think negative thoughts

about my life....what I mean is, the past few weeks have been particularly
rough for me.....the COPD espically, the heart of course is tied to that and
dunno what is in store in that respect...but also my shakyness continues
to increase, and my walkability is reduced greatly lately....add to that is
a feeling of tiredness all the time, no desire to do much of anything,....just
a general feeling of malaise.....ah hell this too shall pass, right?!!:devilish:

We all have negative thoughts now and then. Probably more as we get older. Especially when you have injuries or conditions.

I am always positive and happy with my life, but when something 'twinges' in my spine...negative thoughts come flooding back.

I think it's natural.
I know it's cliche, but...'Dont worry, be happy'!

I'm sorry for how you're feeling about all this and wish I had the right words. You could use some enouragement.

Avoid negative thoughts; negative threads. I noticed from one of your posts today the weather isn't so good today where you are, but that will pass. Cloudy days and rain don't help our outlook, nor these hot dog days of summer, but they will also pass.

Anything funny to watch on TV? Or maybe you have some lighthearted movies and could watch one?

Sometimes I do paperwork or something to put my mind in another direction. I had 8 months worth of papers to file one day and I did NOT want to do it. I had put it off for a long time, but it made me feel better when I finished, just knowing I accomplished something, however small.

We who read your posts regularly care. I hope it helps at least a little to know that.

I am so sorry to hear you're struggling.
You received such good advice already. I know you like animals and good humour. Do you watch YouTube? I found it quite interesting. They have lots of animals videos: rescue stories, funny stories, farm stories. They have comedians, documentaries, travel. You can comment on the videos which put you in the conversation. It also takes you places or make you dream!
Do you have friends nearby?

@hawkdon I am not one to get headaches, never have been, this heat wave I know is giving me many over the past few weeks. So I think we all here are hoping once this breaks you will begin to feel some relief.
I am being very serious here, you are one that I thoroughly enjoy your posts and comments and especially your humor. I guess it's this Mo connection we share that we find the same things funny. Then too as we do here it's not just the laughter, we begin to care for people and you are appreciated and cared for. Whether up and cheery or in the dumps a bit, you are still hawkdon to us, our friend.
On here we can use just words typed and hope you can hear the tone of which we use when typing it. I think I just read a lot of words above with a bunch of caring tone in them.
Each post in reply = a great big hug from each of us. Now I hope you feel squeezed to death. ✊ Hang in there friend!

I also understand how you feel Hawkie. There are up days and down days and I think everyone here has experienced some or all of what you're feeling now.

Please know how much we care for you! You've gotten some good ideas here and I agree with watching funny or interesting things on Youtube especially the animals to lift your spirits. if it wasn't for humor I don't know what I would do Comedy is something that has saved me from depression many times.

Senior Living is another idea here that I think would benefit you; having some company around when you feel like it.

I'm sending you big hugs! (((((HawkDon)))) You're gonna be OK.ā˜ŗļø

I can totally relate, @hawkdon, and I know what thoughts you're talking about. Speaking for myself, I despise being useless. To me, being useless and being needed are two very different things, and I am still needed. That's why I'm still here.

What gets me through the day and keeps me in good spirits about it is one or the other of these:

b 12.jpg

The main ingredient in both is B vitamins. I drink one every morning, and sometimes another at around 1 or 2pm.

It probably sounds hokey, but they really work for me. They boost my energy level and my mood. They just make me feel good and give me a positive attitude. And they're harmless.

Try one. Just try 1, see how you feel.

Oh!...but according to my doctor, people with high blood pressure should only drink the caffeine-free ones!

Thanks to all for responses to my "poor me post"!!!! haha
I am already feeling better, a lot of the issue is just unable to
do things that normallly would not be a big deal, you know,
get the kitchen cleaned, make the bed, walk around...lately
I have felt at times that my legs are ready to just give up and
collapse!!!! I know that this weakness is due to what I eat,
and lack of excercise of any kind,/.// I do use a nebulyzer for
COPD treatment, but thats all....I can walk about 50 feet if
I push it, but carefully, however once on my feet i can only
last about 10 minutes before my hips lock up and I have to
sit or risk a fall.....I may just blow some savings and buy a ramp to use my Bluestreak on, then I could get outside a bit
as long as temp is reasonable....anyhoo, thats enuff of my
crying....thanks to all of you, bleieve it or not just typing
about this has helped...thanks gang!!! ! :cool: :p :love::giggle:

I love you Hawkdon. You have always been so kind to me and to everyone. I often listen to beautiful instrumental hymns and very soft piano music everyday and sometimes even all night long using a small speaker with personalized playlists...turning the sound way down. Immersing myself in calming quiet solitude. It totally keeps me from having nightmares.

Like Tim Janis on "YouTube" (with the white background). It's paired with lovely serene scenes. It fills me with peace and helps me focus on "all that is pure, true, honest, just, lovely, and of good report....thinking on these things" Philippians 4:8 KJV.

this may sound preachy, but having COPD myself and caring for DH who also has lung and heart issues, have you been to a doctor lately? Husband had some problems, couldn't really find any thing new but he is now on home oxygen. We seldom go out but he got a smaller portable unit as well. He uses it only on #2 but i can tell he's less anxious. He also does a nebulizer. The humidity and heat aren't good for us either.

It is hard to be positive but hey, don't give the negativity a chance to mess you up! No. I don’t know how to insert cute jokes, etc. But i mean well! šŸ™ƒšŸ˜‰šŸ‘

I take a centrum multivitamin everyday and I have all the necessary vitamins: A, B, C, D...etc. AND, I will not overdose any of them, which reduce the risk of overloading kidney fuctions.

Hi Hawkdon,
You are getting good advise here.
Have they started your ramp yet?
From your response I see they haven’t. Ask your landlord when you can expect that. That itself with be life changing.
Try and watch or listen to things that relax you or make you feel better. Dan Gibson on YouTube is really soothing. Don’t make fun of yourself for reaching out. We ALL reach out in our own way.
I care about you like others here.
Stay strong. This too shall pass.
Love you Hawkdon!

The ones I mentioned are very different. I take a multivitamin as well. They do nothing for my mood and energy level, and the fact is, at best, we only absorb around 10% of the vitamins the quality ones contain, and the rest is eliminated.
Look at the labels of those energy shots. The ingredients that give you the energy may just be the caffeine.

Sorry (((@hawkdon))). Good on you for telling us. Means a lot to me to see you check in every day, even if you no longer share my husband's Exact birthdate anymore! :ROFLMAO: I will always remember the day before your birthday! :ROFLMAO:

Not trying to be a depression hog, but I've been down myself lately, so no stranger to those feelings. You got loving advice here because you are loved here. ā¤ļø

Yes, you need a ramp or some other assistance to get out of your four walls. That's elder and disability abuse on the part of your landlord. Would you speak with social services, or is that too much?

Love you. Liked @RadishRose advice re: comedy & funny stuff. Laughing is a big help, I swear!

No, it's taurine, an amino acid that occurs naturally in the body, particularly in the heart, brain, eyes, and muscles. But taurine levels in the elderly can diminish or weaken. Taurine supports heart and muscle function, protects cells from damage, including damage due to aging, and helps maintain electrolyte balance in your individual cells.

I often buy the caffeine-free ones.
