How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

@hearlady I decided against bothering with the leaves in the gutter so there's no danger of falling off the ladder.

@Rae As my mama used to say, "Don't spend it all in one place." If you spend a little in a bunch of places, you'll have more stuff ;).

I watered all the flowers, cleaned the litter box, made hummingbird food.

Did you know that hummers consume their own body weight every day? They have to eat every 10 minutes or so. And they have to store about 50% of their body weight to fuel their migration south in the fall. You gotta wonder when they have time for family life, household chores, relaxation...

Ate leftover bread pudding for breakfast. Is it naptime yet?
Interesting facts about hummingbirds. I bought a fairly large feeder back in the Spring and there for awhile I was having to fill it every couple days but not as many at it now. I had no idea how territorial they could be or how friendly they are. Sometimes when I am replenishing the feeder there will be one or two that are there within a few feet hovering waiting for me. I usually say "okay, give me a minute" lol

@packleader, I'm so sorry about Otto.

@Georgiagranny, you're a wealth of info about hummingbirds - thanks for that. Now I know why DH has to keep refilling their feeder!

Other than putting away yesterday's load of laundry that's currently hanging on the drying rack, and maybe running an errand or two, today will be dedicated to enjoying 3 year old grandson. My favorite kind of day!

Waiting for sunrise. The excitement grows.

6 miles up, an airplane is already basking in the sun..........................while a hawk is still waiting.

IMG_1282.JPGIMG_1284.JPG

Even a crow is at the lookout for the sun..................................................Can you see it? The first soft sun rays strike the mountains.

This is the day God has made for us; this is the first day of the rest if my life; God loves you and so do I; I am so happy and full of love.

Good fun yesterday afternoon enjoying 2 cover bands at the nearby huge Mountain View Art Fair. Also talked to lots of people in art and food booths. Many artists in such booths with less interesting art for most people just looking to buy art, actually get many visitors that come up and just talk to them about aesthetic facets of their art. As a photographer, that is rather natural for me, even for such items as women's clothing or strange food I never eat.

Today will have to drive 55 miles north to San Francisco for the 46th Annual Haight Ashbury Street Fair, a one day fare. Just seen one of the below bands so ought be interesting. Expect to be outdoor street dancing about 4 hours.

In addition to working, I'm going to sweep out my garage. The sand they use on the roads here in the winter tends to build up and needs to be swept out, so that's my big physical chore for the day. 🧹
Oh, heck—I'm tired of working! I'm putting everything away and am going to nap, read, and/or watch a movie.

@Pappy, now I'm craving an apple cider donut. :)

I sure wish I had known that today was National Cheese Pizza Day and National Lazy Mom’s Day, before I went out to knock down spider webs spanning across my back door and wash a few windows. I apologize to all you other moms for defiling the day. I will go out and get a cheese pizza and beg for partial redemption.

We slept in today.

Both son's talked to hubby today.

Then I emailed the younger one as he has talked about selling hubby's guns.
Told him if he's coming here to carry the guns back to his home,,, he needs to figure time & gas expenses.
I'm thinking a percentage of what they sell for.

That son also wants our boat,, told him come help. move Dad's tractors, etc to different garages.

Made chicken noodles soup for lunch.
May bake some cookies later.

Good morning everyone, well I had a lucky Power Ball win. I don't know how I will spend it but it was the power ball in red, which means I will win $4.00. :D

The Atlantic Ocean is clear now of all disturbances, so that is good news.

It will rain today, if it happens, for a couple of hours.

Have a good day, everyone.:)
Just don't spend it all in one place. That the Atlantic is clear (for now) is good news.

We had a complete red moon tonight...total lunar Eclipse my Phone isn't any way strong enough to capture it unfortunately... but this is what it looked like....

My heart goes out to you @packleader
I hope Otto does not have too much discomfort.

Dear @Pinky The Vet wanted to put Otto (green light) to sleep, but I want to keep him a little bit longer. I obtained pain medication for him. My 10-year old big guy (orange light) also has a problem.

I am trying to find a replacement for Otto www.24petconnect.com is indexing over three dozen public and private shelters in SoCal, and you can search dogs by breed, age, sex, distance, etc. They even have a daily email notification system to tell you if any shelter has just taken in the kind of dog you want.

The City of Redlands Animal Control has a 4 year old male brindle boxer (top left) that I want to check out. Adoption fee for seniors is $110 that includes neutering, chipping, etc. Some public animal shelters are even free, but private shelter may charge several hundred dollars. I have to adopt an adult dog because I am now too old to tolerate a lively puppy.

Top right: The temperature today was well over 100 degrees, so I can take my pups out for a walk only after sunset. I am carrying a blinking flashlight and reflectors for walking on public streets. The picture also shows termite damage at the bottom of the shed.

Today is probably going to be a nothing-much day. Water the garden. Vacuum. Brush Maggiecat.

I really should tackle the mess in my closet, but yanno? It's easier just to keep the door closed ;).

There are a couple of pavers that have needed to be reset for...um...years? Since it's going to be cool enough to do physical things outdoors...

It's a lovely sunny day.. temps 66 deg....@1pm.....

I thought I might go out today and take some photos of the fields and surrounds, they change every week here in the rural shires... but I've got a delivery coming so I will wait in for that...

I'm going to attempt to make Cheesy bread today... it's something I do fairly regularly, but not since the accident , so it'll be interesting to see how much I;m able to pound the dough using just one hand....

Have a Super Day 🌺 🌺

It's not cold, but will only reach low 70s today & in high 60s now, so it's my first day wearing pants since June 27. It will get warmer this week, and my heart is learning how to cope with end of summer. Son/grandson back to school, so I have no one to play or FaceTime with.

There is a Monday class at my senior center I'd like to attend, but, I hate to say, physically too hard to deal with buses. Have to adjust to, not resent, the new 'normal' me. Whether I like it or not and I don't.

Will grocery shop in afternoon in the immediate neighborhood.

Was in the low 40s this morning,, sunny skies,, not seeing many clouds,,just a jet stream.

Have clean clothing to put away.
Probably left overs for lunch.

Hubby has a major problem with old"shake, rattle & roll ",dump truck.
Has someone looking at if,, taking it apart.

I think that truck is old, 1992?
Parts may be impossible to find?

Hubby's stock pile of fire wood is down as is number of customers.
Think this problem with truck 'might' force him to retire.

Lazy day today after 2 days and 8 trains to get there and back to a Railway Gala.

Just a nip out for breakfast with Mrs Oy then taking her into town to buy wool for her latest knitting project. A wooly hat with Puffins on for the Likkle Grandson :)

After driving home the 55 miles from San Francisco late yesterday, crashed pretty quickly on a couch then slept 9 hours while waking up much and drinking water to flush it all down. Am up at dawn this Monday morning feeling blah, so just had some rice squares for an uncommon breakfast. Much of San Francisco, especially about its hilly, narrow twisting residential streets, is a very difficult place to find free parking during weekends. And after 2+ months with the 2023 Trailblazer with its mediocre window visibility, parallel parking is still scary despite the rear view video cam.

Very rowdy music day up on Haight Street art fair yesterday afternoon. Tons of fun people for a half dozen city blocks. Two hard core metal bands with numbers of bikers and even a few Hell Angels in attendance, then one hard rock MC5 tribute band. Thrash metal is not a genre with much to dance to, so very few ever try to. Have never been a fan of the mosh pit head banging thing that is more an LA and NYC thing and not SFBA. So not surprisingly, that was totally absent, haha. It was good that I had a chance to cross pollinate some in that culture as can make it work in ways that open up eyes with numbers of people giving me fist bumps.

Next weekend schedules show more regional outdoor live music though not my favorite types. If I feel more life within by this afternoon, may drive up north 45 miles to the Pacifica coast for a live Grateful Dead jam band. Then would be 5 quiet days at home unless I can motivate myself to do some fall landscape work in Yosemite.
