What do you eat when you need to but want nothing?

I can't tell you how often that happens to me in the evenings because I'm not hungry then, but if I eat nothing, I wake up hungry in the middle of the night.

I always have cottage cheese and peanut butter on hand I can have with crackers. Also, I have cookies and ice cream. Any of those will do now and then. I wouldn't make a regular practice of just that. Sometimes, I scramble 2 eggs and have with toast and jam.

This Summer its been hard for me to eat in the evenings.

Soup chicken noodle, or tomato soup that gets a bit of cream or milk added.
Sandwich, toast fold over slice of cheese or peanut butter & peach jam sandwich.

We have been making ice cream. end up making too much ourselves.
Left over ice cream is put into freezer container,, which is put in the freezer part of the fridge.

I will take out the frozen ice cream. always vanilla, dig out enough to make a milk shake.
Ginger Ale with some fruit make a:) tasty shake.

Sometimes I nuke a bag of frozen mixed vegetables, seasoned with S&P and pat of butter.

A can of stewed tomatoes or soup, a bowl of cereal, eggs and toast.

I can always come up with something.

If I’m sick a glass of ice cold eggnog is a good way to get some protein.

Eggnog for one
1 large egg
1 teaspoon to a tablespoon sugar or sugar substitute
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
8 ounces milk, half and half, or a combination of the two
1 dash of nutmeg

Buzz in the blender and serve.

These little 7oz microwaveable soup cups from Campbell’s are a bit spendy but very handy to have on the emergency shelf.

I’ve had the comfortable/predictable old favorites, creamy tomato and chicken noodle.

Thanks for this. I didn't know eggnog was so easily made. I usually buy some when stores put it out as we get closer to the holidays. One ice cream / dairy store here has eggnog flavored ice cream. It's similar to vanilla, but much richer tasting. But then again, it's only available during the holidays.

I could drink this all year long. My store stopped selling it 365 days a year just recently. Thanks
