Russia has used pipelines to sneak troops into areas of the Ukraine/held territory. The most recent time was the third such use. They have used them enough to set up some logistics including rest and food stations

Russian troops also had trouble with radiation sickness after disturbing dirt/ digging positions near Chernobyl earlier in the war.

Treating one's own troops as disposable not only appalling but not a good strategy for winning because if enough troops/experience don't survive a mission what will be left to use in the future.

It just depends on how much airflow the person is able to breathe in. In the movie, “The Shawshank Redemption” Andy Dufresne climbed through 500 yards of human waste. Imagine how bad it was inhaling all of that methane gas.
