Gentle posts for gentle folks

Hello lovely people 💕 💕 💕
It's a partly sunny day here at 59 degrees.

@Kaila I hope you get through that dental work easily. You sure have enough on your plate girl, but you power through very well. Hoping DH is coming along. 🥕🥕🥕

You're lucky your return place is convenient to you when you need to return items from... Amazon, is it? My drop off is across town and I have to return a pair of jeans that I bought which are too long. I should have ordered the petite size since I'm short.

I so enjoy reading everything everyone posts.🤣🥰🤩😀

@Kaila.... hope your dental appointment goes as well as can be. I received a letter to say they'd be sending for me in the next few weeks... we should both have a nice smile when it's all finished. 😁 ;)

Went for the usual walk with Rocco, he's been very good lately with his walking so we went to the park. It was dull and overcast but at least it was dry and not windy like it has been of late. On the way back two ambulances and a police van, sirens blasting, turned into a street near where I live. As we turned the corner, I could see they were parked up by the primary school and my first thought was that a child had been injured but it looked like it was an adult on the ground being treated by the paramedics. With the police in attendance I'm thinking it's possibly a road traffic accident. I just hope the injured person is okay.

Later on in the afternoon, I had a message from grandson to say he was walking round so Rocco and I met him half way. He's coming round tomorrow as well after his driving lesson. He's back to work on Sunday.

Time to watch one of 'my soaps' now. An Aussie one, Home and Away. 🪃

I hope the dental visit went well for you today, Kaila! Sending 🤗 's and 🥕 's.

@RadishRose inspired me with her soup-making and I have a big pot of homemade veggie soup cooking now. Can't wait to have it with yeast rolls and chocolate chunk cookies for supper! (And yeah, I put a lot of carrots in it... my favorite part of veggie soup!)

Good Morning, Kaila and Friends. 🤗:coffee:🍂

There's a mouse down here (finished basement) with me. 🐭😱 And he's got to go. Ugh. In this area, for whatever reason, we all, apparently including the businesses we share these little streets with, struggle with "mouse season."

We found a really great deterrent spray to keep them away, but I haven't re-ordered it yet so, here we are. Thankfully, they are little, tiny things, the mice we get here, but still. Ew. They've got to go.

We'll take care of this one with a snap trap and get the spray because, apparently, we're coming into mouse season, again.

How is everyone doing this morning? @Kaila, hoping you're feeling alright and are able to just rest today and recover.

Hoping you all woke feeling good this morning.

I had a mouse get into the basement and somehow he ended up on the floor near the water heater and was dead. Flat as a pancake. Turns out he was mummified down there cuz it's so dry. LOL! He didn't stink like they normally do so I couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from.

Found him one day when I went down there for some books for a friend. Had to break out the Walmart bag and my special tongs. LOL

I'm with you, @Medusa and @Jules, mice have got to go once they cross my threshhold. Same with rats and other rodents.

@Kaila and @Pam, I feel you on the dental work. I have a couple of appointments soon that I'm not looking forward to. It's not that the work will be particularly painful.... if my arm or leg were being worked with the same level of discomfort, I'd shrug it off. For me, it's about feeling vulnerable, somewhat violated, and having my personal space intruded upon. Similar thing with gynecological exams.

Let's not even speak of the damnable expense of dental work.

Hope all have a good day, and that your dental appointment goes well, Kaila.

@Medusa, I too had a mouse last year. First time ever. I bought poisoned mouse kibble that came in little dishes and placed it in the back of the cabinet where I would hear it sometimes There was no food there. It never got into any food and although I felt badly I think the poison did the trick.

But one day right around that time, there was a big thick black snake on my step outside! Yikes. I figured it was after the mouse or perhaps mice, around my condo building. I called the police asking for Animal Control but the officer who came said Animal Control was busy so he came instead.

He took a big stick or a broomstick out of his trunk and flung the snake several feet, landing in front of somebody else's house! Whatta guy. Dunno what I expected but at least I was safe. :ROFLMAO:

He sure does have to go. I’m that person that climbs on a chair if I see a mouse.

What‘s the name of the deterrent spray you use.
It's called, Tomcat Rodent Repellent. It uses essential oils and works surprisingly well. Bonus, the scent is very strong for a bit, but not really unpleasant, sort of spicy. I get it from Amazon. I usually spray inside and husband sprays in strategic areas outside as well.

ETA: Totally feel you there, I climb on things and scream, involuntarily. It just comes out. Mouse = scream. :ROFLMAO:

I know, right? I suppose I'd be expecting a guy with a snake-picker-up-thingy to put him in a box and take him away, or something similar. But, you know, he did remove it from your place, so mission accomplished. :) Go away, Mr. Snake.

With ya; when mice show up, they simply must go. I'm into peace and harmony and all that, but I have no harmony with mice. None.

Good afternoon, wonderful and dear ones,

I got through my dentist appointment yesterday, and set up a treatment plan there, for the rest of 2025.
I feel good about making the progress on that. About as good as one could feel, about hated and expensive dental work.
😊🤨🙄☺️😄😁

I noticed on the way home, that more trees than I'd expected, are suddenly turning red and yellow. 🤩

Beautiful autumn views... but seems way too early!

I reminded myself that it is actually mid September in New England. 😉😁
Oh!
Right on time, I suppose. 🤭😆😄😅

I'm feeling a bit better today, than I was all week long, so I managed a few small manageable tasks and very brief walk outdoors. 👍😀

I hope to go back and reply to some of the post topics from the past few days, but we'll see how it goes. Eating and napping are coming soon.

Good morning, from a wet and windy corner of England. Definitely won't be attempting to take Rocco to the park this morning, maybe a walk around the block or it might even be a case of him just going in the back yard as and when required. Also waiting for a grocery delivery which is due within the next hour.

Received an email to say my new rug will be arriving tomorrow so am looking forward to that. Then this room is done, finished.

As per usual, last night at my son's, me and the granddaughters lost the quiz against mum and dad. And, of course we finished off with a couple of games of Old Maid.... no need to guess who lost both games, even though we were using the new, unmarked cards. 😂

Lovely that you can see goldfinches and cardinals @Kaila. I love birds but have to go to the park to see more of a variety. If I look out of my window all I see are herring gulls and pigeons. Hope you are feeling good today. 🥕🥕🥕

I'm glad that you've finally gotten to the stage of getting your rug, and that you like the actual shade of it, Pam.😀

Did you ever get that new laptop?

I don't know what is wrong with the new deck of Old Maid cards.😉😊☺️
It's very odd that you've had multiple decks of defective cards. 🤔
I'm sure I've got no idea of the explanation for that!🙄😵‍💫🥸😎

😁😆😄🤣

On a less humorous note:

This week, both we and our wild birds were met with loud machinery, clearing out a lot of natural habitat, on the property.😒
Therefore our scene and the birds' safe zone are greatly reduced. 🙁

Thankfully, the goldfinches are intrepid and have already begun to return to our feeder with their young.
A couple of the cardinals are slowly taking their lead.

Dh and I are missing those wild plants and wildflowers, though. 🫤

That's nice that you are able to make a soup that your son likes as well,RR.🙂

Hello, everyone,
I got to my p.t. earlier today. She had to scale back on the physical activities we'd begun adding...🫤
But I'm glad I managed to be there.

On the way home, I managed to drop off for return, a pair of boots I'd ordered online, that were too snug. It's the first time I've ever done any sort of return this way, called a happy return. They send them back.

I actually requested Exchange for a larger size, and will be allowed to return them for refund if they don't fit. I could have requested refund today, but I prefer to get a pair to wear, and am hoping for that, instead of the money.

The return place is directly across the street from where i go for p.t. , which was challenging for me nonetheless. Needed to get a cart for the shoebox, and to add to my outing, but was successful.

My next outing is the next in my series of dental work appointments, 2 days away, on Wednesday, this week. Always exhausting and never pleasant,these trips to the dentist;
However ,I need quite a bit of it, and,
I'm glad to make progress on that.

I enjoy re-reading many times each,
Every post of everyone's , on this thread.
☺️🤩🥰🤩😊🥰

@Jules
I ordered the boots from an online specialized shoe store for people with unusual shape feet. Called Orthofeet,I think.
I haven't yet ever ordered anything from Amazon. Which you asked me about.

This store made the process pretty easy for me, and allows you to try out, and wear the shoes for a few weeks, outdoors, etc, and still exchange the size or get refund.

They were too snug,so I followed their process, called happy returns, to local Staples office supply store or UPS.

I think Amazon has a similar system.
So I'm learning the ropes. ☺️

I received my larger pair of the same boots today, and while not perfect, I will keep these.
