Do you order from Walmart?

Two step verification has become so common that I don't give it a second thought. Most of the time I have a text message page open in another desktop browser page or my phone is nearby and my email client is also open, so it's no big deal to look at the number and type it in. I never shop on my phone.

I started placing pick-up orders from WM during summer 2020, but had to go in the store to get it at the customer service counter. Now I pull into a designated area in their parking lot, text them on a cellphone app, and they bring my stuff out.

Extra security layers don't bother me.

I do not have any of these problems when I use my phone to order from WM. My longstanding rule never to order anything online from my phone has been abolished, but only for WM.

I've had the changed my phone number so I can't sign in problem. And I've almost got the habit of grabbing my cell phone before I use my laptop, just in case.

I've run into this maybe at other sites. If you set your password on a computer and try to access with a phone, they don't recognize it. They want you to reset you password. So you go through that nonsense and they tell you that "password is already on file" "Pick another password." You're now good to go, except that your computer can't access the site, and you will have to try to reset, but have to pick a new password and that won't work with your phone.

Some programmer assumes you will only use one device, and it never occurred to him that you might use two. Or maybe it's something else entirely.
 
We purchase quite a few things from Walmart but donā€™t have them shipped.Walmart is close enough that we just drive there and pick it up directly from the store. Costco and Amazon are the two main places we do online shopping cause you canā€™t beat their return policy.

I realize it is a security measure but sometimes these places go overboard. As I understand it, I will have to do this every time until I go in to my account settings, and turn the 2 step verification off. I havenā€™t placed an order with them in two months but it wasnā€™t like this. If I need to order every month, this just seems a little too much to me. If you use it, how do you like it?

I use it at least once a month, and I like it a lot. I don't use 2-step verification anywhere, and I don't get why I even need extra security for grocery orders. The only personal info Walmart has is my name, address, and phone number, and all that's online, a Google away.
 
After I made this OP this morning, I made the mistake of trying to log in and check my email using a different browser. This site wouldn't let me until I entered a verification code they sent me using my backup email address. I did what I needed to do and checked my email. Then, I logged out and shut everything down, went for a walk and got to pet my neighbor's dog.

the only place i use 2FA online is with my banking.

It's just there to keep scammers from logging into your accounts is all. It's to help protect your personal information that can be stolen. However with the use of AI the hackers are finding ways around those.

My best advice would be to change your passwords often.
 
I was opposed to the new Walmart Super Center in the area because it drove other businesses out. Forward to now. All my prescription drugs are at Walmart because it was recommended by my insurer. I'm too old and poor to boycott discount stores. I still protest injustice when I can.
