How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I was trapped into an achievement today! An oncology practice called me to make an appointment. Apparently my doctor believed me when I said I'd get these appointments made and he made sure they would call me. A year ago, I canceled 4 appointments in a row with them.

I had to promise to get the records sent, to show up to the appointment, IOW to be a Good Cooperative Patient. I had to write down everything they said and read it back to them. This sounds like something my fun-loving GP put them up to.

The appointment is Oct 23. I have to have some wiggle room. The lady sounded like they were going to haul me in there in a few days. I want to get four easier doctor's appointments taken care of first. The lady sounded like a sweet former Marine Corp drill sergeant. With women like that, it is much, much easier to agree with everything and then do it! (Usually I agree with everything and then cancel it.)

Today I saw 6 elk. 2 cows, 3 spikes, and the 3x4 that I've posted pictures off above. It was breezy so sub-optimum conditions. I would have shot any of those 6 today, if I had a preferred shot, which is quartering away. One cow gave me quartering into, which is a tough, but not impossible shot.

4 days to go!
Do you think you will kill something this season? I'm waiting to hear all about it, in detail! There is not much time left, especially if you keep taking days off. Killing is part of hunting.

Ohhhhhh snap, did I just take a beat down?!? ;) For the record the season is 32 days, I hope to hunt 22 of those days(if necessary.) To date I've seen +- 130 elk, 9 deer, and no lions and walked 60 miles and helped my buddy pack his elk out on one of my days off.

I'm pretty sure I'll get a shot in the next 4 days. And I'm sure being the end of the season I won't be alone so a lot will have to go right. My daughter and her boyfriend will be around this weekend so I'm hoping to get his help packing it out as a family building exercise.

I'm glad you're excited to hear as I can't imagine many being into the details, but for all I will NOT post a pic of a dead animal in this thread should I be so fortunate.

Thank you so much, my wife's sewing skills started when she was just eight years old, her aunt taught her. You mentioned colour, look at these trousers that she made.
I was after a pair of men's very wide, baggy trousers, known as Oxford bags, they were popular in the 1920's originating in the mid-1920's at Oxford University before spreading to wider fashion.

Those trousers were well received at the 1920's inspired event that I wore them to.
But I have had a one or two spiteful comments about age and appearance.
For some, when you reach a certain age, clothes and appearance become irrelevent. Ignoring
them is the best way, or a back handed insult like: "What, and look like you? No thanks."
Spiteful comments? What I do when someone is bothering me is glare and say, "Get away from me now, or I will dropkick you into next week!"
It's worked all my adult life. I must be pretty scary, huh?

You look marvelous in that outfit!

very glad to hear it :oops:

More or less. I was trying to rile you up, for fun. I've seen many dead animals in IRL, no need to post pictures anyway. My brother is an avid hunter, so I've heard the stories. They are interesting. He showed me the safe room in his house. He must not be planning to need it because there are dozens of antlers on the floor in there. The room, all 6 sides, is made of concrete. Didn't want you to picture this as a posh room full of dirty antlers.

Thank you yet again, clothes and appearance have been important throughout my working life in my role as general manager of a distribution centre that supplies supermarkets.
A suit is important for a manager as it projects professionalism, competence, and leadership, making a strong first impression, boosting confidence, and representing the company's brand and culture to clients and colleagues. A well-fitted, polished appearance communicates dependability, attention to detail, and establishes credibility in the workplace.
My work suits were always conservative, shoes were black and well polished and I wore a clean white shirt. Come the weekend I would, metaphorically speaking, let my hair down. Retirement is like the weekend, everyday.

You know, I bet a lot of people would be interested if you and your wife wrote a book about your experiences, your wife's beautiful sewing, your car, just the whole enchilada. It would need to be illustrated, but you probably have enough photos for that.

You flatter me with the book suggestion yet you have more perception than you might realise. At school my understanding of the sciences was abysmal, chances are it's why today's technology goes over my head.
Yet when the subject was English, as in both Literature and Language, I excelled. Fellow pupils struggled with Shakespeare, whilst I so thoroughly enjoyed it, as I did many of our poets. Literature I loved, and language, as in grammar, that too was my talent. Have you seen my handwriting?

You are from Georgia, in my early years I befriended a young lady as friends, and we remained friends for life.
She married a surgeon, he was from Savannah, in your neck of the wood. We have been there many times, although not for some time now. Both my dear friend and he husband have passed away, but their memory is forever.

It is 5:00 a.m. and I've been up for a couple of hours. Y'all know the deal. I fell asleep before I could post about yesterday. I did a second load of laundry this week. I'd gotten behind (again) due to the boil water emergency that lasted for a couple of weeks, then feeling unwell for several days; I'm trying to catch up. I also sorted laundry and refilled the containers I take downstairs so I'm all ready for next time.

I reorganized and purged the drawers with my tops and loungewear. Some of the items will be donated, others stored elsewhere. While doing that, I was looking for a black lycra top, which so far I haven't been able to find. I don't think I got rid of it. I will continue that search today and put away the rest of the laundry. Later, as usual, I intend to go sit with HS#3 during his broadcast.

No skating for me today. Dio is still moving slow and carefully, best to stay home.
I must have been really tired last night, I only got up to use the 1758975928609.png once.....that's not like me at all!

My ☕ is ready. Goober is not here yet, but I expect him to show up soon....unless he caught something! 🙄

It's another foggy morning. I'll probably come up with ideas for how to spend my day, after the coffee kicks in.

I hope you all slept well and are feeling good today!

Morning all,on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 64 the sun was coming up as I went around the building twice before breakfast

Enjoy your day all

Good morning, everyone. The storm nearest the US will become a tropical storm today and it will be called Imelda. It might be heading for either Georgia or South Carolina. It is not decided, yet. It might cause flooding on the Southern East Coast regardless of if it makes landfall. Stay safe in these areas as I will in Florida.

My order for delivery today is not working with no shopper and things seem to be frozen with no way to add or take off orders. Help center says it will be okay.

Have a good Saturday, everyone. :)

I've recently reconnected with a childhood friend who lives in the area where Imalda is heading. My friend suffers from migraines that are so severe that she has a service dog who is trained to assist her when at times of need.

The change in air pressure is one of the things that trigger her migraines. Right now, she is almost totally incapacitated. Her dog brings her bottles of water and packets of food. 🙁

OMG, I can't imagine being in such pain with a migraine, that you'd need a service dog.. oooh that poor woman !

@Trila, I hope your friend will be okay. This storm is still not decided, so maybe we will all be safe. 🤗
Thanks for caring. It's too late, she's already down. She has a proven record of knowing that storms are coming, before the forecasters do.

She and her sister play a game where he sister tries to warn her of a coming storm, before she can tell her sister it's coming. It's kind of like a "who knows first" type of game.

So far, my friend is winning, by a long shot.

Yes, and unfortunately, her dog is getting old. He should retire, but the replacement dog is still in training....and is failing. Her old dog stays by her side. Friend and companion when not needed, but there for her when he is needed.

FYI: the younger dog watches what the older one does, but just can't seem to understand that he should be doing those things, too. He's probably going to be a "drop out". But he'll be a good pet.
