WASHINGTON, September 27, 2025 – The Hillshire Brands Company, a Haltom City, Tex. establishment, is recalling approximately 58,000,000 pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products that may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

I have never eaten a corn dog. I don't recall ever even seen a real one but then, I'm a Yankee.
They grow wild down here in the South...

I see this covers products on sticks from Jimmy Dean and State Fair, so Hillshire must be the main company. I hope people dig deep enough to know that. I've had both JD and State Fair in the past and wouldn't have associated them with "Hillshire." I see these batches with wood pieces in the batter were even sent to schools!

Thanks for posting this. I, of course, have a box in my freezer.
 
The size of these recalls and the fact that no problems were detected before 58,000,000 pounds of food was distributed boggles my poor old mind.

I figure a relatively small percentage of the 58 million pounds was contaminated, and the company can't take the chance that people will be injured.
