First and Last Frost Dates by Zip Code

Hmmmm it had my spring frost date 2.5 weeks earlier than our actual last frost was!

Anyone planting mid-April would lose everything. We cannot put things in the ground until at least Mothers Day, and even that is rolling the dice.

Oct. 19, better prep my blower and sharpen my mulching blades I guess.

My trees arent turning yet but theyre already dropping leaves and whirlyjigs.
Ive learned to sweep up the whirlyjigs on the patio so they dont get blown into the flower beds.
Otherwise I have a kajillion maple seedlings to pull out later.

I gave all that up. Theres just me. Theres a ton of people selling produce if I get an urge for something.

Mine says infrequent. Some years there will be a morning with ice on the bird bath but it doesn't last long. In the past we've had frost where the bougainvillea has some leaf damage. We had some light snow in '49.

November 22 / March 12th. Right now, we're still experiencing summer temperatures in the day time, and that's likely to continue over the next 10 days. When summer stays too long, it increases the chance of stronger storms when cool fronts finally move in.

November 3 here.

When I was growing up in the UP of Michigan, I remember walking to school on the first day...the day after Labor Day...and breaking the ice on puddles with the toe of my shoe. I also remember wishing that we'd never left Hawaii!

September 30th, today, very possible we've had early morning low temps in mid 30's a few time in last week or so. Heavy but still liquid condensation on car windows and the leave are turning.

I did like what the site mentioned about 'micro ecosystems'. Having lived in Rocky Mountains since 1994 i'm well aware of some the odd effects. Our current home is only a few hundred feet higher in elevation than center of our little town but the temp often varies by a couple of degrees.

I agree. My yard slopes from the house to the fence row. Those low areas always frost first.
My house is solid brick. That south side acts like a Trombe wall. The brick holds heat so stuff next to it survives longer.

Also location makes a difference. Country vs city. Cities have more asphalt and concrete which holds heat.
