Good Gosh...another UTI

Do you get any difficult side effects from the Keflex, Marie?
I hope not, since you've had to take it repeatedly.

I wonder if your ongoing dr might think about Hiprex for you,
for after this infection clears up.

It helps many people by preventing recurrent uti's and bladder infections.

@Marie5656 I mentioned this before but just in case it was overlooked. Do you use one of those travel mugs
with the flip spout on it? The worst UTI I had was due to one of those cups and one of the suction seals in the lid
trapping and holding liquid under it that became moldy and I had no idea. If you do use one check under all those seals
and see if anything is growing there. Seriously, I hope this is all it is because it's so much easier to get those to stop
happening. I didn't think the one seal would come off so I overlooked it.

I would ask, Marie. It works in a different way than the regular antibx.

The urologists prescribe it after a few too many, and too soon/frequent uti's, with the heavy antibx course for each of those.

I've known them to start the Hiprex right when finishing up a regular antibx that clears an infection. Before another infection gets time to start up.
(that's the brand name it's known, but it has generics that are fine)

nope.... do not.

I never heard of any of the medications mentioned here! I have way too many UTIs, so I'm wondering if I should aak my doc about these things.
Nobody seems to know why some of us get lots of these, tho I've heard different theories. I saw a urogynocologist for awhile who said they were always from feces. Gross, huh?

I know this has been an ongoing issue for you, Marie, so I'm sorry to hear it has happened again. My mother used to get them frequently as well. Not sure what she took to fight it. I hope it clears up for you!

I'm far from an expert in any of this, but are you sure you didn't have a yeast infection and not a urinary tract infection? To me the cup lid seal sounds like a source of yeast growth. I may be way off base, but mold and yeast seem to be partners.

I hope you feel better soon @Marie5656.

I've mentioned this before, but I take 2 Azo cranberry soft gels in the AM to help prevent these. They make these in chewables & tablets, but I didn't care for those. I didn't have luck with other brands of cranberry capsules.

These contain Pacran, the whole fruit cranberry power & Vitamin C that supports your immune system. They don't upset my stomach like cranberry juice eventually did & no extra sugar/calories that the juice has.

Marie, your body may be accustomed to the regular antibiotics so the germs aren’t totally killed each time. Insist on that new drug.

For anyone that has never had a UTI, it’s like p**ing hot glass. Every ten minutes.

Oh Marie5656: So sorry to hear you have had another bout of UTI's. I've had it a couple of times and I immediately start on URAL effervescent powder., it helps relief from painful burning symptoms from urinary tract infections. Have you been tested
for Diabetes yet? That's how they found out I had it.. Also drinking low sugar Cranberry Juice is good.
