Digital ID required to work in UK?

I think there's more to this than 'protecting citizen jobs' which the line the PM is espousing. Many people and/or organizations have been pushing these things for a while. "protect jobs" is just to get the foot in the door.
 

It doesn’t bother me but I don’t understand what information is needed to set it up or how that information is verified.

I believe that eventually someone will figure out how to game the system and make a very good living in the process.

I also believe that if any country is serious about stopping illegal immigration, it needs to be done at the point of entry and not after the fact.

Legal or illegal, people need to eat and feed their families. Even good people will eventually take what they need to survive.

I really believe in secure borders combined with a path to citizenship for hard working generally law abiding immigrants already in the country.
 
I'm American and have been watching this on Sky News. It doesn't seem right. Not everyone wants or can use technology and shouldn't be forced into it.

One of my friends stopped using technology, doesn't own a cellphone, laptop, cable or streaming, just regular OTA. He works with his hands and gets paid in cash and always on the go. He's also one of the happiest guys I know.
 
To work in the UK, everybody needs a National Insurance Number,
two letters, four numbers, one letter, for many years now they get
a card, the size of a credit card, so as far as I can see, all the people
of working ages, already have an ID.

It sounds very similar to our Social Security number.

..and that's not including our NHS numbers, driving licence, numbers.. Passport numbers... etc that we already have

Enforce the borders. Because illegals are often paid cash, this system will not stop that. I suspect even more will be paid cash if this happens. Which may have the secondary effect of reducing tax revenue.
 
Something isn't right. If you want to make sure that illegal immigrants can't work, then you need to control illegal immigration.

They keep on putting more control on everything, and it's not going to stop :(

sorry if my last post sounded like sarcasm aimed at you Michael , it wasn't... it's just sheer frustration that the gvt's preference is to upset the Indigionous folk and cause as much stress & hassle.. .. rather than address the elephant in the room...well the herd of elephants in the room, more to the point!
