Hey guys, still hanging in the tree. Wx is warm and breezy, winds out of the north carrying the smell of wet, burnt sagebrush from the 300 acre fire we had yesterday afternoon. Dumb camper burning cardboard, people are so careless. Probably cost a $200K to put out w multiple aircraft involved.

Saw 3 cows moving n by the river and then nothing until 2 spikes appeared s of me about 70 yds. They were eyeing the bedding area making sure no lions were about. I knew I had zero chance to get them to move closer to me. Soft called a few times, but they wanted sleep!!!

I’m getting down soon, 1 day left!
Oh geez, you are leaving us on tenterhooks! This isn't as great as when the Red Sox are in the World Series, but it will do!

Did the camper get arrested?

@Pepper Never mind being too proud and too stubborn to get the help you need. There's no reason to be miserable when there's help to be had, dammit!

@hawkdon I hope tomorrow's doc appointment results in a positive change for the better!

October is only two days away, but it doesn't look like the temps are going to let up much. Drat. I am sooo ready for cooler days and nights!

Good morning/almost afternoon, SF peeps! Just catching up after a busy weekend. Highlight was dinner yesterday. DDIL made Yakisoba. I assume @Pinky is familiar with it - not sure who else is - but I'm here to tell you it was out of this world delicious.

DDIL is an excellent cook who has taught me a lot about Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and other Asian dishes that convert well to vegetarian.

No definite word on the fire's cause yet.

Hopefully the overnight rain and cloudy morning make for early morning feeding and plenty of time to get to their beds w the cloud cover. Tomorrow's wx forecast:
Okay, then. If the animals need time to get to their beds, does that mean you kill them while they are sleeping? Either way,, I am rooting for you!

^^^No the bedding area is where they go to spend the day digesting, staying cool, and hiding from humans and lions. Only a lion could (and do) kill one in there.

Hopefully the rain discourages them from feeding all night. The typical pattern is they come out as soon as it stops raining and continue to feed until later on in the morning when they'll go bed down. My tree is btwn the feeding area and the bedding area.

In response to hunting pressure the last 10 days or so they've gone to bed down well before first light. I'm just seeing a few stragglers here and there, not the main herd.

Well stick with it. And stick by your arrows. You'll be proud of yourself when you kill an elk, and so will all of us except for that wimp, @hollydolly ! Apparently she would rather you kill them while they are awake!
I know you meant that as a joke.. but I'm sorry, I feel ill reading this conversation....

I live in the country I know animals have to be killed for food.. but this long drawn out discussion about the hunt ..is making me feel very sad...

Nothing against you, @againstthegrain, but I'm rooting for the elks.
Oh I got that, 90% rooting for the animals, 9% hoping I fall out of the tree, and 1% for my success. It'll be over tomorrow one way or the other.

I was on the way home from dinner and we saw about a 12 mule deer in town, and about 50 elk in our neighborhood heading to the golf course for the night.

Not hoping you'll fall out of the tree, admit to admiring your sense of sportsmanship by using a bow and arrow rather than firepower, but I nevertheless root for the animals.

No we don't want you falling out the tree only @WheatenLover , wants that... :ROFLMAO:

Haven't posted in this thread since Saturday. After posting, I got a surprise. Costco called and said my glasses were ready, so we made an unplanned trip. Luckily, it wasn't too crowded and check out was fairly quick. I picked up the glasses before I did my shopping. I think I may need to get another prescription due to an issue I have that the new glasses seems to have made worse. I'll go into it more at some point in a thread I'm planning to start.

Also the agent replaced the nose pads, thinking he was doing something good. I didn't realize until I got home that they are too big and not esthetically pleasing at all. :( I have 30 days from Saturday to return the glasses to get new lenses (if that's decided) at no charge. I'll ask for a smaller nose pair as well.

Sunday, another unexpected event. I thought my sister was going to be discharged from the hospital on Friday, but she was still in. So I took the bus, stopped at Subway to get a half sub, which I ate in the hospital cafe area then went up and sat with her for a couple of hours. I'm glad my son and I coordinated our timing so he could pick me up on his way home from the mosque.

Early this morning I rotated stock. I also started gathering my bottled water and other items for my son to take to the timeshare when he goes on Friday. I'll take the casino bus down on Sunday and he'll come home, so our "little girl" isn't left alone for too long. Mid morning I walked to the supermarket and picked up items that filled two cloth grocery bags. Also had three lengthy phone conversations today with a good friend, HS#3 and my BFF.

I'm sorry, holly. I deleted my post, but I can't delete grain's reply. 🥺

For me, I suppose I'm kind of removed from emotions about it because I'm not picturing the situation in my head, along with the emotions that arise when I do that.

It's a little past 6:45 a.m. and I'm already tired. I loaded and ran the dishwasher (a tedious job), wrapped and packed more vacation items for my son to take and took out half of the things in our storage closet so I could get to the suitcase I want to use. I'll Swiffer in there before I put everything back.

Around 8:30 I'll start getting ready for my echocardiogram appointment. It's in the next town so I'll take an Uber or Lyft there and back. Have a nice day everybody.

Morning folks!...up at 5am again....okay so what...so feel okay,
but still tired and that is the problem, I don't do enuff to
warrant being so damn tired, ah well....doc appt at 2pm, see
what his prognosis is about my COPD...I hope he does not
try to sell me that thousand dollar a month prescription again,
if so I'll prob just walk out.....sounds like a new dog in the 'hood, as got one barking close by now....have a great day if you can....
;):cool::coffee::love:

I'd turn loose all of my savings if it would buy a raindrop!

No meetings of the minds or board meetings on my agenda today. Big business will just have to get along without me ;) .

After wild days of cooking and baking, there's a sink full of dishes that need to be washed. Can somebody please tell me why, when my brother was building this place, I declined his suggestion of installing a dishwasher?
