Spent some time on the phone (again) with BOA trying to resolve my dispute with Wix web hosting. I think I'm going to call the company since the dispute process is going slowly. I did not have the company's number when I first opened the dispute, then I've been trying to decide whether I should call myself or have my attorney call.

Tonight I did a quick cleaning of the floors (dry and wet Swiffering) then took out the garbage. HS#3 and I had a long, deep conversation about people who are so traumatized, broken and lacking self worth that they withdraw or choose suicide.

Well, it's 1 a.m. and I can't find my charge card. I've torn my wallet, purse and car apart. The last place I used it was the hardware store on Thursday and that's the last transaction showing, thank goodness. I immediately called VISA and put a temporary hold on it and I'll call Lowes bright and early tomorrow morning to see if I left it there. Keeping my fingers crossed. Then I could reactivate it instead of having to cancel it, and get a new one.

I'm usually sooo good about immediately putting it back in my wallet but I've had a couple of lapses in the last few years. It was October of last year when I lost the last one. Of course, I found it the day after I cancelled it. Figures.

Think I'm going to get any sleep tonight? I'll just lay there all night long thinking what a ding-a-ling I can be when I really put my mind to it.

We are off to the doctor's surgery shortly, flu jab, then we shall head on out to Salisbury, to The Hat Shop. My wife is looking for a 1920's style cloche hat and I hope to find a light blue fedora. Time permitting, we hope to get our provision weekly shop done.

Tonight we are off to Digby Hall at Sherbourne, it's a regular ballroom dance event that we enjoyed before my lady's heart surgery. Her recovery is still ongoing but the social aspect of meeting old friends and just engaging with the general ambiance of the event is good for both of us, as is, getting out of the house.

My new shirt is finally taking shape. I had another fitting and no adjustments were required. Click on this thread, and you will see how much it's looking like a shirt.

Storm Amy has hit with avengeance here...Very high winds... trees down....

I've just been up on the Barn roof.. trying to stick the tarp down, because it's being ripped off in pieces by the winds....

I can only reach so far on the high ladder unfortunately because I refuse to climb onto the roof. Hopefully my roof sealent will hold the tarp for now...I'l have to get a handyman in to redo the whole roof...

Have the best day you can Peeps of SF>.. 🍂 🍂 🍂

Very windy here, but I think that the west coast is getting the worst of it. My garden seems quite sheltered and really quite mild. I haven't looked too closely, but I don't think there's been any real damage done. Touch wood, the electricity and internet have stayed on.

I made chicken soup for lunch. It was something cheery for a miserable day.

As a frequent loser of credit cards, I report the card as damaged, place a temp lock for security, and request overnight delivery on web page. That saves all the aggravation of losing the card, except for the mental beat down I subject myself to!!!

I need to use apple pay instead of cc, I never seem to lose my phone.

Good morning everyone. Cloudy this morning. Rain later today.

I am waiting for delivery from Publix but shopper is new to me and really slow.

@jujube I couldn't find my keys to the house yesterday and thought I lost them after searching my purse. Then getting home, there they were in our driveway on the ground. I must be more careful when going out. I hope you find your credit card.

Have a good day, everyone. :)

I've just been doing the laundry , and charging all my rechargeables.. Shark, cordless handheld Vacc'... .etc... during the 2 hour free Electricity slot today...

My timer ran out to get my dryer on for longer than 15 minutes beccause the washer took an hour and a half.... mostly I would have just carried on drying the clothes past the free time limit.. but I have another hour free tomorrow, so I'm leaving the clothes in the dryer until tomorrow.. they'll be fine..

I don't put eggs, milk or baking powder in my Dumplings.. just Self rasing flour, salt, herbs.. water... nothing else.. and my Dumplings are always huge..

Most people here in the UK add suet to the dumplings, it just makes them heavy IMO..
I do typically what you do except use baking soda and reg flour. I don't cook by recipes very much so I posted what I could find and my picture looks eggy for some reason so this recipe fit the bill.

It's pretty hard to mess up unless in Step 2 the batter gets over stirred.

Apple air tags or the android equivalent is another life saver!!!

Do you make your dumplings or buy the frozen? My MIL used the Pillsbury Grand biscuits and cut in quarters. I poo pooed the processed food as I was scarfing it up by the spoonful. 😋
Nope. I sort of use the Bisquick recipe. All I remember is that there's milk added, dropped by spoonfuls onto hot stew or whatever it's called, heat turned down to simmer for maybe 10 minutes, then covered for another 10 minutes or so (you can tell by looking when they're ready to be covered). You gotta be careful with the amount of Bisquick or they'll taste like Bisquick.

If you use Bisquick, I think the recipe is on the box. I just put some in a bowl and add milk a little at a time until it *looks* right.

When I made them from scratch, it was just a cup of flour, 2 tsp of baking powder, salt, a half cup of milk. You gotta be careful with this, too, or they'll taste like baking powder. These just get dropped on top of stew and covered right away, cooked for about 15 min or so.

See what I mean by by-guess-and-by-golly? LOL

Yay!!! I called the store this morning at 7 and THEY HAD THE CARD!!! It had been found out in the parking lot and turned in. I picked it up right away. I've taken the lock/hold off and I'm back in business. I must have either put it in my pocket or held it in my hand with the receipt and lost it there.

My early new-years resolution: PUT THE CARD IN MY WALLET RIGHT AWAY....NO EXCEPTIONS!

Welp it's that time of year. We're heading to Yellowstone for about 10 days of camping in the Lamar Valley, aka "the Serengeti of N America"), wx dependent. The outlook is good except for 1 day w a little rain. That might be the night we head to a motel (showers, laundry required) before we complete the trip. This will be our 4th visit this year.

The next 2 days I need to gather all our gear, clothes, food, etc. I'll need to do some meal prep as well, have 1 dinner (chicken thighs in tomato sauce) already frozen. Of course this time of year I also need to clean my gutters and shutdown the irrigation otherwise might return home to a disaster.

The trip last year was magical!!! It's really hard to replicate those peak experiences but we're going to try. We mainly entertain ourselves daily w wolves. We venture to known spots to observe, hike a bit (armed w bear spray and shotgun), and cruise the roads in the late afternoon. I do my utmost to avoid grizzlies, which we've seen up close, but so far always from the car.

Elk are in full rutting mode, but to us they're not a novelty since we're surrounded by elk year round. Bears are heavily feeding to prepare for winter and the wolves have to eat every day so the action is virtually non-stop this time of year. This pic was taken from our campsite last year, 10/15/2024 The buffalo were migrating to their winter range out of the high country.
