How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I slept on my bright idea of dusting this morning. Still don't know because while I'm upright and my eyes are open, I'm not really awake yet.

It rained last night! Yup. Not a whole lot but enough that I don't have to water the garden. It's gonna be a warm day. Overnight a cold front is supposed to come through and leave us wishing for summer again. Should we believe it?

Besides dusting, there are flowers that really need to be deadheaded. I'm going to think on it.
I moved some hostas yesterday. The area I wanted to plant was so hard I had to douse it with water before I could get my shovel in an inch.
I hope your rain comes this way!

They've been building here too, knocked down 1/2 the woodland to do it..... the last 4 years.. 400 new houses... but thankfully not as close as yours are going to be.... 1/4 of a mile ?.. that's only 400 yards .. and then they'll be roads as well, and much more traffic...
There is a farm near us and the owner has died. Rumor in the neighborhood is that the son wants his Mom to sell to a developer of apartment buildings. The Mom is saying no way! I hope she wins the battle.
Land "for development" is on sale about a mile down the other side of us.
I already see traffic building in our little neighborhood from the apartment complexes that have already gone up across the highway.
Progress. People need a place to live.
50 years ago we were the progress. Our neighborhood was built on farm fields. There was nothing out here when our home was built. Now there's Wal-Mart and all your cookie cutter gas stations and fast food.

whenever I see houses built in precisely the same and exactly the same as each other... this song always pops into my head..

The TV show. "Weeds" used a variation of the song as its intro. I use it as my ringtone on my phone
I currently live in a sub division that was built 60 years ago, they built 3 styles of bungalows and followed that pattern.
Now a days, new couples who buy a home, tear it down and build up a 2 story monster on the property.

Morning all, on my early walk at 6:50 temp was cool 54, as I walked around building twice ,saw the moon then the sun slowly rising
No 'road trip' this week with Mary she just had her kitchen redone/painted, having friends from out of town visiting .This morning taking the bus to our favorite $ store, need to buy some birthday/anniv cards
The rest of my day read NYT, afternoon stroll, read my book
Tonight on PBS at 8pm watch season finale of 'Big Cats' which I find fascinating
Everybody have a great day

Good morning to everyone. It looks like a nice day today. They are doing road work here in the neighborhood and digging up some roads. It makes it hard to get around and out onto the highway.

We are going to take the car to the service center tomorrow for work it might need. Some things need to be done after a car is 10 years old. Prices have gone up a lot for parts and labor, so hope it doesn't cost a lot.

Have a nice day to all. :)

I had an oh-look-shiny moment. Again. So now I'm taking a short break. The dusting is taking longer than usual because I'm doing more than a quick swish over stuff. When it's done, the vacuum will be hauled out.

While dusting, the need for washing bathroom walls became very apparent. Very. It's been 16 years.

Hey! Guess who isn't cooking today? Mexican potato soup tomorrow because it's gonna be cold, but the crew can eat leftovers tonight. Or whatever DD cooks.

I have a day at home?!! With nothing scheduled?!!

Actually, I have a good amount of (little) things that I would like to accomplish today. The question is: will I actually do any of them?

I think I'll start a "done" list.

Afternoon peeps of SF.... 🍂

You couldn't make this up, .... I had a voicemail message asking me to call the Plastic surgery unit at the hospital to make an appt for results of the latest X-rays...

The NHS is notorious for not answering phones for a long time.. and this was no different. I waited and waited for about 30 minutes , then I got down to number 2 in the Queue,. and sat on that one for 20 minutes.. before eventually getting through . The receptionist says.. what's your NHS number.. I tell her.. then I hear an alarm going off at her end.. and she says.'' sorry we've got to evacuate the building the fire alarm is going off''.. and she was gone !

I doubt very much that there was a fire ( i hope there wasn't) .. these false alarms are always going off... but the irritating thing is that when I call again.. there will be a longer phone queue.. of all the people who have been trying to get through during the time they were out of the building...

Made my annual trip to a nearby apple farm. As expected, prices are up from last year - 14 apples cost me $13.50 - that just under $1 apiece. Better quality and size than is the usual at a supermarket, so it's worth it to me. My problem is where to put them. At my old house, I had an enclosed back porch that was relatively cool and protected. Not at my new house. Keeping them indoors will make them dehydrate very quickly and on an open porch is an invitation for wild animals. I guess the garage will have to do.

Morning all folks.....woke to a sound of something falling down...dunno what that was about, 5am now and 46F. bit
chilly for me....feel okay so far, but brain not all engaged....
Yesterday ended up being not so good, lot of breathing
issues, mild as far as pain issues tho...see whats going on
today.....;):love::coffee:
As long as it wasn't you that you heard falling down, then the day should be good!

Wednesday 11am 10/8/2025 now and will continue to quietly recover these weekdays from last weekend's massive festival. Have been reading a lot of neuroscience science lately. This coming weekend October 11>12 shows another outdoor afternoon street fair at a city 30 miles north with Classic rock cover and tribute bands. Weather forecast shows average fair sunny.

The annual San Francisco Fleet Week with the Blue Angels Air Show and navel ship tours is also next weekend that I've attended a few times but am less likely this year. Draws a huge crowd to SF north shore areas.

More interesting is, a significant fall cold front that will cause rain locally here in the SFBA and snow down to 8.5k in the Sierra Nevada. Thus am likely to drive the 250 miles east across the range either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning and stay till Wednesday or Thursday working fall leaf photography.

My state driver's license renewal is by the end of this month and am supposed to go into a DMV office for an eye test since I am over 70. So had that scheduled from August for yesterday 10/7/2025 with an email reminder set up. However, the DMV sent the reminder email yesterday after my appointment time, so missed it. Fortunately, there was another open date later this month I'll need to use though may try to go down and stand in line one of these mid week mornings. Our local DMV offices tend to be mobbed by aliens trying to get state issued IDs.

I wish our roads weren't so jammed solid everywhere except on the ittle rural roads... and we could just take off on a whime on a 250 mile trip without too much concern. The very thought of a sevral hundred mile trip now takes a lot of thought, and a lot of planning... long gone are the days of the emty roads and mortoways of the 1960's & 70's

It's one of the great pleasures I had of driving in Spain.. the Motorways ( freeways).. are relatively empty of traffic.. especially in the south, because the Spanish just refuse overall to pay Tolls... and they will happily jam up the cities and towns. so they don't have to pay 3 or 4 euros at the toll.. which means the motorways are a joy to drive on.

I happily drove on several occasions a 6 hour drive from our house in the Valencia region...... down to My daughters' place in the Southern Almeria region abut 500km's

I woldn't dream of doing that here now....I would fly or get the train ..the equivalent in the UK is London England to Edinburgh Scotland

an update from my morning post
I couldn't; find any cards at $ store that appealed to me,instead bought some pens& paper that I did need,. When I walked out, the 'spur of the moment' hit me went next door to 'Super Cuts' didn't have an appt, waited 20 min,my hair is now nice/short should last a couple of months
As I'm typing this looking out my living rm window ,the leaves which had been green, because of the much needed rain we got yesterday have begun to change color, mostly yellow, its a start
its been a sunny cool day near 60 with a slight breeze

Well. I had set up my CD player sometime recently, I have been playing those. Tonight I wanted to play a new piece of Vinyl I'd purchased. Yikes.

The difference between CD's and Vinyl? Well, one of those is that CD's either play, or don't. Vinyl? I played the record and it was clearly playing too slowly. I checked, and yep, 27 RPM (as opposed to the required 33.3 RPM). Change drive belt. No difference. I check the pickup weight. Nah, it's right. Finally decide to check the oil in the turntable spindle. Yeah - low. Clean the spindle, clean inside the spindle hole. Put in new oil, replace spindle and wait for it to settle. Test. Not quite. More oil. More settling. Now working fine.

So much for a night simply enjoying some tunes. :D
