Question about a post in the current news and hot topics discussion

When I access this discussion there is a thread right at the top that appears to be a "sticky", the thread was closed a couple weeks ago with no explanation, or reason given why it continues to remain at the top.

Just curious why a closed thread doesn't just disappear down the line as new threads are started.

It should do.. are you sure it's not just showing high on the list because you're accessing it through your watch list?.. Have you tried just clicking on ''new threads'' to see whether it is in fact still near the top ?

Hollydolly, I am not very savvy on some things, I don't have a watch list so far as I know, at least not intentionally. That thread is a light yellow color and has a stick pin symbol on the corner which is, I assume, a sticky symbol. I assume a sticky can only be set up by an administrator. It also has a padlock which I assume means the thread is locked, and a bell which I assume is an alert if there is a new post.

I seem to get the bell symbol on any thread I respond to. I don't know if that is selectable, but no other thread I respond to stays at the top and has a stick pin on it.

It is no big deal, but I have never seen anything stay at the top unless it was a sticky. This one thread stays at the top on my tablet.

yes the bell is your notification of the latest post on a thread your watching, so Tom, I was saying... is the post high on the forum... if you access it by clicking on the bell ?..or is it just the same if you click on it using the normal ''new posts '' option..to view it.. or is it lower.? It could be that in your notification it's still artificially high

if you want to you can tell me what the thread title is and I can look myself to see it's postion

It was probably closed to avoid any politics, and left at the top because it's a current event.

It's the first one at the top in the forum he mentioned.

Oh it's MY thread..I didn't even realise you were talking about MY tgread..

Well politics reared it's ugly head on there unfortunately .. which is against the rules... and so it was locked, and as John Cycling said it was likly left there because it's still a current event... also I would imagine as a reminder to people to leave the politics out of the debate
