What Should I Do With Or For This Bunny ??

@katlupe ... maybe you have some suggestions?

Woke this morning, opened the curtains and saw a bunny rabbit on my front patio. Looked to me to be a domestic and likely an escaped pet, but that's just a guess. I don't know this rabbit.

So finished doing my morning things, looked out the window, opened the door and checked the porch ... no rabbit. Fast forward to this evening and between college football games. Jumped into the car for a quick run to the store. Discovered the bunny rabbit had been around here all day. It was under the car. Came back from the store and the bunny was on the front porch but soon moved back under the car.

I put a bowl of water near the car. Offered some blue berries but the rabbit wasn't interested. Don't have any veggies or anything I think the rabbit might like.

A couple of months ago, saw the neighbors across the street with a white rabbit and think it could be this one, but the neighbors aren't home today.

So if the rabbit is still out there tomorrow, I feel I need to try and do something. I can't bring it inside or even into my backyard. That fella in the avatar with me would absolutely harm the rabbit if given a chance. So there is that.

What to do ??

The neighbors across the street finally got home a few minutes ago just after 9P.M.
It's not their bunny and here's the story I got ... in the neighbor's words ...

"Our dog, Moose, found the bunny in our yard last night. I took it up the street and just let it go in front of the house where some "Mexicans" live. They have had rabbits and I thought it might be theirs. The rabbits they had were outside rabbits and weren't getting any special care."

I mentioned to the neighbor that I saw her with a white rabbit a couple of months ago and she said ...

"It was a rabbit that belonged to the "Mexicans", got loose and was sick. I tried to save it but couldn't."

The neighbor said she knows and has recently spoken with a lady that takes in domestic bunnies, vets them and finds homes. So if the bunny is still around tomorrow, I'll ask the neighbor woman to get back in touch with the bunny lady. That sounds like the best case scenario for the bunny.

Won't know anything else until tomorrow ... if the bunny is still here under my car. Evidently the poor bunny didn't want to stay up the street where the neighbor woman dropped it off last night. It made its way back down the street to here and apparently it wants me to do something.

He looks like a Mini Rex to me. He cannot be left free outside or he will not survive. He probably does not need food outside because they can eat grass and plants that grow in your yard (unless they have poison them). Inside he just needs a litter box with some greens and mostly hay and water. If you need to cage him (so he doesn't chew on wires and furniture) make him a playpen type of area. They need room which a cage does not give them.

He either escaped from a home or someone didn't want him anymore so they abandoned him.

What to do with it???

Love it!

Spotted the bunny on my front porch this morning when I awoke earlier.
Waiting to hear if the neighbor woman has been able to contact the local bunny rescuer.
Told the neighbor to let the rescuer know I'd donate $40 to her rescue if she would come and get the bunny.

I found online there is a statewide bunny rescue with volunteer individuals throughout the state.
However, the site states they are currently full and not accepting anymore bunnies.
All they offer are links to how-to sites for pet care.

I have not attempted to handle the bunny at all, only acknowledged its presence and put water near the area it's hanging out in.

Thanks @katlupe for chiming in. Much appreciated.

EDIT: Bunny lady is supposed to be on the way here, from the next little town over. She requested we capture the rabbit before she got here. Neighbors brought over a carrier. Think it spooked the bunny. We chased the poor bunny about a half block before corralling and one of the neighbor kids was quick enough to get it. So waiting now for the bunny lady.
