Not so sure that Ai is ready for prime time.

Remember when... thirty seemed so old.
So, I saw some news report that a billionaire had offered to pay the military this 15th. That made me curious as to what that would cost so I asked Ai to give me the total number of troops, and how much it would cost.
Gave me lots of equations, facts and figures and finally, an average pay of $4135 semi monthly. (Ok so far)
Then came the next answer to how many troops...1.3 million personel. (still good so far).

Then the money shot... based on these figures, it would cost $24.5 billion. o_O Whooa there.
I Ran the numbers through a caculator and I came up with $5.375 billion. Quite a difference from the $24.5 billion.
Wrote back to Ai with my caculation's and to my surprise, it admitted to a caculation error.
Told Ai it was time for it to have a math refresher course. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I get a kick out of catching it in mistakes, too. I asked about a Civil War soldier at Gettysburg. It's my passion and I've studied the era for decades. Gave me some strange name of a person I knew wasn't at Gettysburg. So I told AI it made a mistake. The cheeky bugger said "Oh, you're right, that person wasn't even born yet in 1863. My bad." "MY BAD" it said!!! AI creeps me out. 😬

Well after Diane Keaton passed away I saw something saying it was fake. I googled it and AI said she's still alive.

But there's news stories of her death.

I have learned that most of the AI we use are LLM's. They are trained as language models that are primarily designed to predict and generate text. That means they understand patterns in language, grasp concepts, etc..., but they don't exactly do math the way a calculator does. It uses a more reasoning nature than a precise and dedicated math engine. As a result, it might miss a decimal point, or mistake a decimal for a period, or it may round up, or misunderstand the problem altogether.

However, you can ask it to use a math engine, and illustrate how it arrived at the answer. It will do so and show you each step of the process. Just make sure you give it clear and precise input. GIGO. I think this was a misunderstanding by the AI. If you ask it how it arrived at the answer, you will likely see where it went off the rails. Hope that helps.

All "knowledge" in AI comes from the internet. It's a grandiose multi billion dollar project that depends on a flawed information. No matter how much money they sink into AI, it cannot overcome its biggest weakness.
