Reflections of My Life

Perhaps try a wireless one if you don't already have one. Logitech is a good brand.
It is wireless. I think one of them is Logitech and the other is Tecknet. I always use wireless ones. Can't stand those wires all over my table. I think the problem is with my browser. Just have to figure it out.

I found out the reason our manager quit is because she had a big blow out argument with her boss. Our district manager. The manager wanted to buy new video cameras and update the system for better security. The district manager told her to stop thinking of the building as a residence and start thinking of it as a business. For making money. So she quit because she said she cannot work like that. That means they will not pay for repairs unless forced to. And nothing to make it more like a home. The district manager said we do not need security cameras. Until now we had them inside the building but I guess they are not working and need to be replaced.

Anyway it is crazy around here now. We (the tenants) own 2 video cameras that are in the 2 apartments and look out at the backyard and part of the parking lot. Maybe we could put some outside our apartment doors and aim them on the elevator and exit doors. Not sure if she would even let us do that. She is a really mean person.

So I am praying that somehow this gets better. A couple of people have put calls in to HUD representatives to see if there is any help they can give us.

Like I needed any more stress.......

kat,

IMO your best defense is being aware of your surroundings, knowing/communicating with your neighbors, and staying safe in your apartment after dark.

If you feel the need for additional security, would you be able to hook up ring doorbells outside your apartment and your son’s apartment?

They can be a bit pricey but they offer a variety of discounts from time to time.

Good luck!

I feel safe myself. I never leave my apartment after dark. Have never seen anyone on my floor that shouldn't be there.

The manager has been upset lately over homeless people who either stay with one or more of other tenants. And the ones who get into the building and sleep in the community room. If they find a way into any building here they will start sleeping in it. The lady who owns the thrift store a few blocks away went out to her shed and found a homeless man living in it. Calling the police does not do much more than making them leave but then have to find another place.

Most of the homeless near us have tattoos, fancy phones and plenty of cigarettes. So must have some form of income. They do not want an apartment because they do not want to pay rent and for utilities. They say they want freedom. That is exactly what they said to one of my friends in the park this summer. Yet they don't have the freedom of a roof over their head and a warm bed that no one can kick them out of.

I wonder why your district manager isn't enforcing the rules --that all tenants be registered tenants, and that rule-breaking tenants can be evicted?
I think he just needs the advice of an attorney. The problem has an easy fix.

EDIT: Maybe.
