Would you share what it is that makes it the "last of its kind"? You've shared many beautiful photos of steam engines over the years. What makes this one special? Just curious. :)

LMS Stanier Mogul 13268 is called the last of its kind because it is the sole surviving example of the London Midland Scottish Stanier 'Mogul' class 2-6-0 steam locomotive. All other 39 of the 40 locomotives of this specific design, built by the London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS), have been scrapped.
LMS Stanier Mogul 13268 Let me decipher that. LMS, British train companies were named by their region, this one is London, Midland, Scottish. Stanier. Named after Sir William Arthur Stanier, the LMS chief mechanical engineer. Mogul. That's a nickname which refers to the wheel arrangement of 2-6-0, meaning 2 leading wheels, 6 driver wheels, and no trailing wheels. There you go, clear as mud.

Similar to the way they identified steam engines here, and I do remember them from my childhood, when they used to spin their wheels at the freight yard a mile from my house. I could sit on the porch and hear them at night. The Great Northern RR that took me from Chicago to Montana when I left home at 17 was diesel electric by that time, and replaced the 2-8-2 Mikado, which I believe that may have been the only type of steam Great Northern used.
