Former Ballerina With Alzheimer's Performs 'Swan Lake' Dance

We have an Alzheimer's Unit that is a part of the ALF where I live. I wish we had more like this here. At one time we did have a former Rockette and she could do those high kicks when her therapist could get her going.

It is great when these former artists awaken time to time. We don't get to see much of it since they are in a separate unit.

My son was painting at a retirement village when he recognised one of the patients who is now in an Alzheimer ward. He went up to her and started humming "La Vie En Rose" and she started singing it in French. She used to be on stage many years ago, he recorded her singing and sent me the film, I cried when I saw it. I think she has now passed on because he never got a chance to visit her again.

That is amazing, as @Lewkat and @feywon both showed that the music never leaves you.
It comes from the soul.

Years ago, I was at a Super Bowl party. The host's mother, who was deep in Alzheimers, was sitting in an easy chair, completely unresponsive to what was going on around her. She was hunched over, moving very little.

Christina Aguilera was performing in the half-time show and I just happened to look over in the corner where his mother was sitting and she was sitting up with a wide smile on her face, waving her hands around and bouncing in her chair. I immediately ran to get him and his wife from another room. They came in and he had tears in his eyes. They just stood and watched her and started hugging her.

The super bowl show ended and she immediately went back to her slump. They said she hadn't been that animated in over a year. I still wonder what it was about Christina Aguilera that sparked that joy in her. She hadn't reacted to anyone else in the show. Something "talked" to her and got through her mental fog. They said she had been quite the "party girl" in her youth, so maybe she was reliving that.

Aww, bless her, that is amazing 🤗
I am so happy you got your friend and his wife to see it. It will be a significant memory to keep.
How incredible the human mind and Soul are.
