Quick question to GOP fans....

I don't believe that SS in the US was ever meant to be much more than prevent starvation. A sort of mandatory savings that some just could not do or would not do. It has been good for that purpose. Not sure what all the fears are now about losing SS. Only concern I have heard was about the rising number of retirees signing on while the number of workers in the US is dwindling a bit. Maybe we do need to revise amounts taken and make acceptance later in life or ?.

ALL that needs to be done is to raise the cap on FICA contributions. It's not reasonable for someone making Millions a year to only pay FICA on $118,000.. which is a very small percentage of his income and for people making under $118,000 a year to pay FICA on 100% of their income.. This would insure that SS and Medicare would be solvent forever..

Shirley, would you suggest that because some have more, none of us need our ss checks? How presumptuous to suggest some of us are better off than others thus none of us are dependent when it comes to income from ss.

Does that mean that you will be willing to spend two weeks less in Thailand and give that money to the poor and downtrodden?

Do you really want me post about how we put a poor Ugandan girl through university, fed and housed her, bought her everything she needed, paid for her graduation party, helped 3 other poor Ugandans through secondary school, paid for medical care for several people, lived in Uganda for two years in less than posh conditions to help the poor, gave away our car to a deserving family when we left? Should I mention charities we give to?

Any more questions, Shirley?

I have a solution to the SS, Medicare "problem". Drop all Republicans from both programs, as they see no need for it anyway.

Jim, where do you get these far off lies you keep posting. If you look at reality it is not the Republicans fighting the system as most are fighting the wild overspending of our current government. Even some Democrats agree on that fight. Just not enough yet.
