Men, on a scale of one to ten, rate going to Costco with your wife.

Without asking him, I know what my husband would say.

I ask myself that a lot. I shop at Sams Club. After the kids all left we've kept the membership. I joke that I basically pay them to shop there. 😊
DH swears we save in gas and a lot of the things he buys. If not for him I would not continue.
I do like to buy large quantities of paper towels, toilet paper, etc. I buy big bags of nuts for baking, rotisserie chicken, sometimes clothing, grass fed beef. There are things I specifically get there.

Because even a single will save a lot of money over the course of a year (Assuming you have a freezer), and in addition, if you get their Visa card and use it everywhere and pay off the balance every month, they give you back considerably more than the membership fee. I've been shopping there for over 25 years and it's a total mystery to me why nearly everyone doesn't shop there (Assuming one is in the vicinity).
 
We went with friends one time and didn't see the point for our family. We shop once a week because the produce won't stay fresh any longer than that, so why not get it all at one place each time? We don't have a freezer, don't want to dig through a mountain for a bag of peas and don't want to use the electricity to keep it running. we even keep bottles of water in our refrigerator freezer to make it more efficient since it's seldom completely filled.

Lot's of bulk items come in such large quantities we could never use it all before it went out of date, and I really prefer things, like cereal, to come in boxes over bags that are hard to keep tidy in storage.

We just wouldn't think of paying a store to shop there or using a credit card of any kind. We don't like to pay bills.
 
We go about eight times a year. We call it "shoputainment." I enjoy checking out the merchandise and we buy toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, toothpaste and other nonperishables in bulk, as well as gas. They have great deals on golf balls and some other surprising things (I've bought some nice shirts there, and I'm fussy about clothes). I think it's worth the membership fee but I haven't analyzed it.
 
After I posted above I realized all 3 of my sons have either Costco or Sam's Club memberships.
I have been with all 3 of them at times shopping in them with wives along and it occurred to me,
Sons--- focused on home supplies (TP, Paper stuff, soaps, dental stuff, cleaning stuff, water, things like that)
Wife --- always, always says "While you do that I will go look at clothing deals/bedding/towels)
they would rejoin and then he is looking at meat and frozen veggies while she is looking at already prepared meals.

I guess it's good they have a system going but it suddenly seems funny to me that all 3 families shop the same way.

I’m answering for my husband.
The reason why we shop at Costco is because they sell the best quality at the best prices. We shop with our Costco master card so we get a percentage back every time we shop. They offer shipping at a bit extra price and their return policy is the best. You dont even need to give them a return reason why you are returning the items to get a 100 % money back guarantee. We have been shopping at Costco since they opened as the Price club , so over 20 years now. I also like that they offer ‘try before you buy’ free samples.
 
I live alone and have a Sam's Club Plus membership. Sam's delivers right to my door and recently started including Rotisserie Chickens in home delivery. (Yum, they are so good @ $4.98) The minimum purchase for free delivery is $50. Shipping is free also.

I find with delivery I spend less, by buying only what I need. No impulse purchases while walking around.

Having a chest freezer certainly helps. I have a 3.5 cubic ft one.

The opposite is true for us. My hubs has to check out all the electronics and gadgets. I have a list, organized by the way I will fly thru the store. My hubs uses a basket as his walker and I use the flat bed cart as a skate board.. Time is of the essence for me, when in that mad house. We go twice a year and stock up on vitamins, toilet paper, laundry detergent, some canned goods, applesauce, and that kind of happy horse pucky.

Those flat bed carts don't double satisfactorily as a skate board, trust me on this one. :ROFLMAO: From now on, I will do all our Costco online and have UPS deliver. It is a win win on the domestic front and also the local social scene. ;)

My husband and I often shopped at Costco, and it was only the two of us. We bought things like their croissant rolls, produce, Rib Eye steaks, St. Louis style ribs, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Norwegian salmon fillets, Lox, Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna, Eggplant Parmesan, Kirkland canned tuna and chicken breast, olive oil, quality dog jerky, napkins, paper plates, Edam cheese, batteries, dish soap, hand soap, and numerous other items, too many to mention.

We have a small chest freezer in the basement, so wrapping things well would assure they lasted until we wanted to defrost. It's been emptied and unplugged since his death, my refrigerator freezer is big enough for my needs now. We enjoyed shopping there together, my husband liked to look at everything on display.

Since he passed, I still have Costco same day delivery every few weeks, croissants, frozen cheese blintzes, organic orange juice, Eggplant Parmesan, dog jerky, batteries, cauliflower crust pizza, trash bags, Perrier, Spindrift seltzers, etc. I cancelled our Sam's Club membership, food was better and bigger selection at Costco, IMO.
 
When I was married a long time ago, it was harder to get a Costco membership. We had our membership through my wife’s employer. She rarely if ever went to Costco with or without me. She didn’t like the place, though she did like some of the treasure hunt gifts I bought her from time to time.

When we were separated, I still used her membership to go to Costco. Hope springs eternal in the heart of a man. One day I did my Costco shopping and at the register I was told that my Costco card was no longer valid. I had been removed from her account. That is when I knew for certain, she was gone forever.
