We (Black folks) always say that if you go to a funeral and someone hasn't made you laugh, then it wasn't a "good" tribute to the deceased. BTW, my son told me that when the time comes for him to eulogize me, he's going to make sure he tells people how hilarious I am. And I'm sure he'll give some examples to make themHe was such a nice person, his sweet personality came through with everything he did. I once got set up ahead of time and painted along with him. My result didn't look like his, but it wasn't terrible.
[Wouldn't you hate to go to a funeral with @Beezer ? I know I'd end up giggling like Mary Tyler More at Peanut the Clown's funeral.]
He said once that he used to be in the military. All day long he had to follow orders and do things a certain way, then he would come home and paint so he could do things any way he wanted to!I remember how he would paint a shoreline of trees on the other side of the lake. He didn't paint a tree, and then paint another. He had some way to smuge his brush horizontally across the canvas and end up painting hundreds of trees with one sideways stroke of a brush.
Why do you think he had no artistic skills? I'm just curious. I heard the same thing about Thomas Kincaid from a friend whose mother was an artist. I love his and Bob Ross paintings.Even if he had had no artistic skills, he was an exceptional person worth being soothed by.
I didn’t mean to imply that Bob had no artistic skills, just that for me his strongest appeal was his soothing tones. Why do you think he had no artistic skills? I'm just curious. I heard the same thing about Thomas Kincaid from a friend whose mother was an artist. I love his and Bob Ross paintings.
Do you remenber "Draw Me" on matchbook covers?
I did it and some men came to my house and tried to sign me up. I didn't bite. I was probably 10 years old.

He was one of a kind. I read awhile ago that he was a drill sergeant in the service but vowed when he got out that he would never treat anyone like that again...and he didn't.To me, he was an amazing person because he could mix colors to achieve a combined color that would fit into his scheme. I tried painting while in the service. I enjoyed it because it was relaxing and gave me an opportunity to relax and decompress. However, because I was continually on the move I had to stop.
He was a good person and a wonderful artist, I enjoyed watching him on TV very much, very interesting to watch him take you step by step.I went to a funeral service today and this man walked in who was a dead ringer for the old TV artist/ painter Bob Ross. I kept mentioning it to anyone who would listen, but not a single person got my reference.
