Who All Are Night Owls

I don't think we can easily change our body clocks, and we probably don't know why many of us are geared to be morning or night people. Fortunately, my wife and I were the same. If I could really choose which to be, I would stick with being a morning person. The man was here at 8 AM to mow today. Later this month I have early morning (fasting) blood work and an early doctor visit 3 days later.

My best friend and emergency contact is a night person. I have a check-in service I call every morning to let them know I made it through the night. I have to be very careful and not forget or by 9 AM they will call him. He's a nice person, but a bear if he gets a call before 10:30 AM.:(
I understand him... :D

Prior to Covid, I woke at 6AM with an alarm for 20 years, or up 5 to 10 minutes prior. My internal clock knew when it was time to get out of bed.
I'm usually in bed by 10:30PM the latest.
Once Covid hit, I did not need an alarm clock as I worked remotely from home and now I'm up any time after 4AM :cautious:
I start to toss and turn and just have to get out of bed. Maybe once a month I might sleep past 5:30AM.

Well its 3:17am so guess whos a night owl. :D
I am heading for bed though.

Now that Im old and retired and can sleep as much as I want my body has decided it only needs around 6hrs.
I dont wake up to P like some but I do need to make a quick trip as soon as I get up.
Pleasant dreams. I'm in bed but as you can tell I'm still awake.

This old age malarky can be a right pain in the proverbial, 5:00am and wide awake. How strange it is that come the daytime and the daylight streams through, I can nod off in the blink of an eye. Does anyone else have an amazing urine capacity? You make sure that you are all comfortable before getting into bed, a safety pee my wife calls it, four hours later and it's not just a dribble. Beats me.

It’s a cruel irony of old age that once you have all the time in the world to sleep, you have trouble sleeping. I don’t know anyone older that doesn’t have this problem. When I was young, I always went to bed early because I was tired and was up early. Now it really varies. I have went to bed as early as eight or as late as 1 AM. I try to stay up at least until 10 PM Otherwise I’m up at four in the morning. I rarely get eight hours sleep.

It's now 4:30am and I have an appointment at 09:30. I have been awake since three am. Soon I shall go and see if I can get the sleep fairy to weave her magic and get me off to the land of nod. What's the betting that as soon as there's a chink of daylight sleep will come in an instant.

I'm a night owl, always have been. I usually get to bed about 1a.m. then awake before 6a.m. and ready to go. I do doze sometimes watching a t.v. show. I was at my son's place this morning waiting for a delivery at his home. He said it should be there by 11a.m. but it didn't arrive until 2 p.m. I was watching his t.v. dozing, when he suddenly rang to say it would be there in 15 minutes. I got such a shock because I thought I was still at my place. I can hear him saying to himself, "Poor Mum, she's lost the plot"

I feel fortunate. I dont have any trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I usually fall asleep within 5-10 mins.
Now if go to bed too early then I will lay there for a while. Then theres the fact that I wake up after 6 hours.
So if I go to bed at 11pm then I wake up at 5am. Im a night owl. I have no idea what to do with myself at 5am.

I usually go to bed around 1 or 2 am. Sometimes I stay up till 3 or 4 am. That happens sometimes when you chat
with people in other time zones. :D

I usually read for an hour or two before I go to sleep, usually around 9:30 at night and get up around 5:00 the next morning..
Sometimes, the treadmill in my bedroom beckons me to get my butt moving ... other times, I avoid the temptation and pick up my phone, instead!

I was starting to get a little worried because of my lack of sleep, probably due to daylight savings. I went to my local chemist shop and asked the attendant if there was something I could take, I didn't want sleeping tablets. He produced Bioglan Active Magnesium PM. It's a high strength citrus powder and I take one small teaspoon (provided) in 200mls water or juice in the evening one hour before bed. I've now taken it on two different nights, and I must admit I have had two restful sleeps.

My husband was bedridden the last couple years of his life so the only enjoyment he really got was watching his shows at night. We'd stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning until he was ready to go to bed. Since he's passed, I stay up until 1a or 2a. I make myself so the nights won't seem as long.

I'm really sorry for your loss. You and your husband obviously had a good, sound marriage. You are a terrific example of a person who took her wedding vows seriously. Life deals some folks a tough hand. I'm hoping you stay confident in the fact that life is still good and I'm sure you have family members and friends that appreciate you being a part of their lives as well.
Hang in there...your an inspiration to others who know what you and your husband went through and how you are still coping ...

I would do it again in a heartbeat. He used to make me teary eyed because he was always thanking me for helping him. I told him I appreciated that but I didn't do it to get thanked. I did it because that's what you do when you love somebody.
