Checking in. Thx to all of you. Bypass was a success. Lotsa PAIN. Amputation Monday late afternoon. Miss cats and grandson. We FaceTime. Thx. A bunch.
The successful bypass is GREAT news!! Wishing you all the best, so sorry you had to go through this.
You will feel sooo much better when it's all over. Sending good thoughts to you.

I've just been burning rubbish in the incenerator.. it was just after 4pm and starting to get dark so I didn't feel too guilty about it ... plus it's Guy fawkes week so not many people take any notice of fires during this week.. altho' it was enclosed I still feel guilty on the rare occasions I do have a bonfire.. but I had a lot of paperwork that needed destorying... and it would have taken too long to remove all identifying details from them

I'll sort more out this week, all from my past life, there's a lot of file boxes ... and then burn them on Wednesday... Bonfire ( Guy Fawkes) night , when there are bonfires and fireworks all around the country

Aside from the first picture, all others are from our morning hike. I still have to set back the time on my camera.

Left: After only 24 hours, my grandson's Beagle "Zero" and my puppy "Rex" had bonded. So, when my daughter came to bring Zero
home, Rex jumped into the car as well in order not to be separated from his newly found buddy. Sorry, Rex, you have to stay with me.
Right: I still could hike down into the canyon, but would I be able to make it back out again? I am 50:50 whether to give it a shot.

Ocean fog/smog in the Los Angeles basin, with the inversion layer at perhaps 3,000 feet. Only the mountain tops are sticking out.

Puppy Rex is cooling off in a ravine brook even though it wasn't really that hot. Lady Heidi is too dainty to get muddy.

Seeing some good friends today. We haven't gotten together in person in a couple of years due to logistics and calendar conflicts (they don't live nearby). I'm looking forward to a gabfest. Gotta spiff up the house a little. @Georgiagranny, I'm counting on you to come over and lend a hand with the dusting...

I'm glad for the extra hour sleep this morning. I don't mind moving the clocks forward, it's the spring setting-back that messes me up.

Have a great Sunday, November 2nd, all!

Do I get on your nerves with too many pictures? I'll try to take a break.

Death Valley National Park where my daughter and her friend Scott are camping. The pictures are copied from my iPhone.

Solar panels to supply energy for the Internet via satellite (the laptop is at bottom left) as well as for the refrigerator at the campsite.

PS, Never visit Death Valley in Summer; November is about the best time weather wise.

Pleasant fall sunny day with warm for date, 76F temperature. Partly watching 49ers at Giants NFL game as I type (they just won now 1pm). Glad to be back to balanced sun time. Was easy to attend our 7am mass in daylight again.

Built a falling rain/snow hood for my 2023 Trailblazer LS rear passenger side door window that when I sleep in the vehicle's back bed with that rear seat down, is right above my head. I want fresh air, so will leave a window cracked open about 1/2 an inch. After mass walked about Home Depot looking for something to use as a hood and for $2.19 bought a 3 foot long rubber floor molding cover, that I sawed to 2 feet, drilled a couple bolt holes and sawed off another 2 pieces for end sections that were just taped.

Friday mounted a couple of GoPro helmet mounts above that door. So installed a couple adapters into the mount to cluge into the hood. Won't be installed any time when driving as the only time it will be installed is when am sleeping in the vehicle on rain/snow weather conditions and otherwise will just store in the car. For summer use, will also design a simple mosquito net cover into the same adapters to prevent, moths/flies/mosquitoes from entering through the window crack when I have the dome light on in order to read books etc.

The black GoPro helmet adapters accept a cap bolt to mount their cameras that can be adapted for various things on a car's body surface. I also have 3 other mounts on the car top with neon green bones sticking up that I use to id the car from a distance as in large parking lots.

White Gorilla tape cluged it together.

Later today will be driving north again to the same venue I enjoy over Halloween where a couple of rowdy surf music bands are scheduled. Friday, was there from 3pm till 1:30am as a bunch of bands played to a full house with plenty of fun costumes about. Most Halloween fun I've had in years. This evening, temps are forecast to be in the lower 50Fs so will need to dress a bit warmer.

I love free dispersed desert winter camping too. Death Valley National Park is arguable about the best place to do so in the USA as weather tends to be sunny at moderate daytime temps. There are vast areas of the park where one can pull over on dirt roads, miles from any others. The park is a really long 475 mile drive so only visit rare wet late winters when it has wildflower blooms. Endless places to hike where no other humans have ever walked because the lack of water means one has to carry it that limits distances.

Spent most of the day yesterday and all this morning spreading some of the mulch so next year, I'll have a layer of soil to grow some grass. Knocked out 3 piles of mulch and still have several more scattered around the property.

Looking at my house from the street it appears that I have a lawn. Halfway between the street and the house is what they call a pine island. It is an area defined by landscape timbers containing trees and shrubs. On the house side of the island hardly a blade of grass will grow. We have stopped trying.

I should have clarified. Like my front lawn, when everything grows in, it'll be mostly weeds and clover. Not mush grass ever grows in this excuse of soil. (mulch or no mulch) :D
