Sunday dinner still a tradition?

This is a question really for those members who live in the UK, do people still eat roast beef on a Sunday or has this tradition died out? I've been taking a trip down memory lane and Sunday dinner was a highlight, my mum made the best yorkshire pudding, with me it was always hit and miss. Twice this past summer I've eaten it in a restaurant but I always feel let down afterwards. On my last trip back a few years ago DH and I had a wonderful meal, we went back the next weekend and it was awful, cold, the meat was stringy, I could not eat it. Same place, very different meal.

I wish!!!

My mother made a full Sunday roast up until she was no longer able. It's all a bit overkill for two, but she and my father did it anyway.

Having an American wife, I've never enjoyed a Sunday roast. They are a thing of beauty. Come to think of it, just as the traditional British breakfast is. Good grief, life can be good.

The Sunday joint is pretty much a memory in this area.

It’s something that most people’s lifestyle and budget can no longer accommodate.

At Christmas time some of the local markets still proudly offer prime rib roasts with bright red bows and eye popping price stickers.

These days it’s more likely to be toad in the hole or bangers ‘n’ mash with onion gravy. 😉🤭😂

yes ! Yes ! yes! Most people still eat Sunday Lunch at home..or go to the pub and have it there...

The pub I go to.. does a spectacular Roast beef , Yorkshire Puddings and all the veggies.. for much cheaper than I could buy it and cook it myself...

I used to like a nice rib roast for Sunday dinner, but now in the UK, beef is for the rich. We do, however, still have Sunday dinner but it varies from week to week. Chicken - if you can get one that doesn't resemble tofu, Pork, Lamb - in season, Salmon, venison etc...

Going to the pub for lunch is not really a thing here, and forbye, there are no pubs in the area. It's one of the things I miss about England - a pub lunch and a pint of good ale. There are some very good Scottish ales, though rarely sold as draft.
