Has anyone tried fasting

I have never officially fasted. That said, I eat breakfast at around 8.30, have a light lunch around noon, fruit snack mid afternoon and dinner by 6.00-6.30.

We don’t snack at night after dinner. According to what I’ve read about fasting, some would consider that 14 hour window between dinner and breakfast a fast.

No one seems to be preaching balanced meals and smaller portions. also, never food shop when you are hungry. I had a boss who's motto was "Curb your desires, Ace!" That might apply to overeating.

My friend always says that some people eat to live and some live to eat. I fell in that latter category, but I'm slowly changing it one day at a time.

I tried intermittent fasting. First 12 and 12, then 8 (fast) and 16 (eating). I couldn't stick with either one. My son fasts all the time. We are both diabetics so I don't know how he doesn't get sick. He often fasts for 3 days, even 10 days sometimes and seems to prefer those over the intermittent fasting. He just broke a three day fast two days ago. I get hypoglycemic if I go for too many hours without eating. Also, I think it would be dangerous because I'm on diabetes medications. My son refused to take them and manages his diabetes with diet.

Sounds like a good plan, the 10am to 6pm windows is very doable. When I do intermittent fasting I start after dinner(6pm) and then just don't eat anything until 11am or 12 noon. That gets a little Autophagy going plus stimulates HGH production....a pretty cheap & easy health boost.

That's me on most days. After I brush my teeth at night, I don't eat anything (usually around 6-7 pm) and then I'm never really hungry in the morning.

They used to tell us breakfast was the most important meal of the day, then they came along and said - when you "break fast" it can be any time of the day as long as you eat something nutritious. In all honestly, I have lost faith in the "experts".

Aside from not eating between around 6pm to 12 noon the next day, I just try to reduce my portions and avoid my nemesis - Sugar!
