Today-W.5/14/25 is National Buttermilk Biscuit Day.

Yes, please! 😋

These buttermilk biscuits are flaky on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside- which equals perfection in my book. My grandma's flaky buttermilk biscuits makes the perfect side to any meal.

I love buttermilk biscuits! This is one of three recipes I make for buttermilk biscuits.

Butter Swim Biscuits

I’m trying to come up with a sweet coffee cake version.

I’ve seen a couple recipes and I’m thinking it might work to pour a thin layer of maple syrup in the bottom of the casserole, toss in some pecan halves, top with biscuit batter, score and pour the melted butter over the top.

I’m gonna try it for Christmas breakfast/brunch.

I’m pretty sure that it will be edible but I’m not sure if it will become a keeper.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

@Aunt Bea, that sounds like a cross between a coffee cake, upside down cake & pecan rolls. I like that!

With upside down, you melt the butter & brown sugar before the fruit so I don't see why you can do that with maple syrup. Do you think the syrup may be too runny? Mixture of maple syrup with a little brown sugar maybe? The butter greases the pan & I found that it also creeps up the sides of my dish between it & the batter which I like when it browns & caramelizes a little.
