Neat picture! I have (or had) a couple of Mourning Doves that came every year and perched on our balcony ledge. I looked forward to seeing and listening to them every year. This year there was only one dove. I'm sadly guessing it lost its mate. I have pictures of them, but as usual, can't get them to download on here.

Pigeons are flying pest.
How true OldOld: My next-door neighbour insists on feeding the pigeons in his yard. They are a pest and there is usually 30-40 there every day. I have complained to the council who sent them a letter to say it was illegal to feed wild birds in our homes. They carry vermin and attract rats and mice. He couldn't care less. I had to move my clothesline because they defecate on
the clothes. I turn the hose on them all the time.

That's horrible that the neighbor is attracting so many pigeons and it was causing you problems with clothes on your clothesline. I love all creatures and am glad you're just turning the hose on them rather than shooting them. I used to throw out stale bread and other food items to the birds and other creatures living out there until my husband said I was attracting mice and the mice was attracting snakes. I heard the word SNAKES and quit throwing out bread. Plus...I've read when you feed the birds and other creatures, they'll quit searching for food themselves and lose their survival skills.

I love pigeons even tho' there's negativity towards them in towns and cities... the pigeons that visit my garden.. wood pigeons and collared doves, are all clean, and semi-tame... and we've come to recognise each one and their offspring over the years...

We built a nesting box for them high in the trees... ..

Mother on the nest ..they sit on the nest for weeks......

I had to get fence clips because some of the birds here are really almost the size of cats, so when they land on the fence they were causing it to bang and shake...
