I've been re-framing artwork... into fairly large Picture frames... It's taking me a while because of my damaged hand.. altho' the hand is coming along nicely .. it's still not at full function and still paralysed overall..., so it's taking me longer to try and work like that, and the picture frames are heavy but I;m managing..(y)

I've got more to do, but I'm waiting for some enlargements to come back through the post...to frame

It's very cold now...2 deg C.... Ive got 2 layers on top and fleece joggers on the bottom and thick socks, but I'm still cold.. I'm going to put my lightweight Feather & Down Gilet on in a minute... ..I wouldn't be surprised if we got a frost tonight

@hollydolly, I could have used your help a few years ago! I had a matted and framed panoramic photo of the Lusitania docked in NYC. It was quite large, and I hadn't hung it properly, and one day it fell, and the glass shattered and the frame bent. 😟

I didn't have the money to get it re-matted and -framed, so I reluctantly threw it out. The print wasn't expensive; it was the cost of matting and framing that prevented me from getting it fixed.

Yes, I think that is exactly what I will do! And I just heard from my younger daughter. We'll be going out to dinner the night before.
that's all sorted then....
Nowadays I just think of Christmas day as being the day that I spend with daughter and my friends who are married.. or just my daughter alone.. and this year that will be 2 days before Christmas...and not necessarily the 25th

I realise Christmas day isn't as big a deal in the USA as it is in the UK... but I'm perfectly fine having it on another date which suits me, ... and Christmas day at home on my own is no different to any other day

if things don't turn around in the next day, I'm going to have to take my cat back to the vet,,, not eating or drinking... haven't had a chance to check the litter box but if he"s not urinating, that"s bad, I'm sure. more uncoordinated when he walks or tries to get down off chair but mainly all he's doing is laying under furniture, not moving for hours =( Doesn't seem to be in pain but *something's* not right

Oh what shame... :(...Mostly I take my own pictures and then have them framed by me...... but I haven't done that for a while..instead I bought Canvases a few years ago ready artwork .. and framed them myself... I always frame them myself even if I dont take the pictures myself..

These were the last ones I framed myself.. but they were ready made artwork... the frames however are very large and extremely heavy...

OTOH... pictures like these that I've framed , are photos I've taken myself and framed...again a very large frame.. but not heavy in this case...

Whadda ya mean it's not that big a deal here??? The Christmas decorations are up at about 25% of houses and it's way to early IMO. Wuz them fightin' words?

Heck, we have 3 churches on our residential street and they will all have midnight services on Christmas Eve. We make it a point to get fat during the holidays, so that we have something to make our New Year's resolutions about. Plus we can moan and groan about how we are never eating anything that tastes great again! That gets everybody feelin' sorry for us, so some of them make us a pie or somethin' to cheer us up!

Our bank accounts border on zero and it takes hours and hours to wrap all the presents. Especially the ones for children. Check with StarSong about baking. Now she ain't an average American cuz she makes 5,000 cookies, but the rest of us aren't too shabby for Normies. And fruitcake! Lots hate it, so they douse the the thing in rum and call it good (if they can still talk after eating all that rum, plus cake of course.)

Lots of people don't like fruitcake who are probably teetotalers. I wonder if Jameson would be good on a fruitcake. Anyhoo, the fruitcake has to soak and be re-drenched for a few weeks or a month before Christmas before it is knee-walkin' good. That means the dose of liquor is perfect - when ya have to walk on yer knees.

The houses get decorated inside and out. OMG, people even gift wrap their kitchen cabinet doors, decorate trees, put out their 600 piece Santa collection, big wreaths on the front doors, use Christmas china, make and imbibe eggnog until the cow's come home, play Christmas music 24/7 until they yearn for July. The women probably daydream about spending next Christmas on holiday somewhere that has a chef and a maid and a babysitting service. I know I did!

And we have at least 4 holiday meals (Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years Day), holiday parties, Christmas Shopping is an Art Form, we drive around and look at decorations, and we attend festive holiday events.

We read Christmas books and watch Christmas shows on TV. Why, my ex-husband (age 82) spends the holidays watching Hallmark Christmas shows on TV. Some people decorate the outside of their cars with antlers and such. Myself, I have always wanted a car with antlers, haven't y'all?

well the point is that you Americans' celebrate Thanksgiving way more than Christmas as far as I'm aware..whereas ..Christmas is our Biggest holiday in England, Wales & Northern Ireland.... in Scotland Christmas isn't such a big deal, because New years eve, is the biggest celebration there...

In England , wales and NI.. the christmas holidays lasts for 2 weeks

Only really odd people celebrate Thanksgiving more than Christmas. Thanksgiving is about food. Christmas is about food AND love.
At my house we celebrate Christmas from the Friday after Thanksgiving through January 6.

I just lump all the winter holidays together as Christmas, since that's the one I celebrate. I know about of Hanukkah, Yule, and Kwanzaa and that they are celebrated too, as they should be.

Yes. Thanksgiving almost gets skipped entirely here to make way for Christmas. It seems to be big but it's because it's lumped into Hallothanksmas.

i don't celebrate holidays anymore. haven't for years. i just participate for the food.
Me too! My PCP was being tiresome about sugar, fat, and salt -- don't eat much of that and other horrors. That was a couple months ago.

I said, okay, low salt. But with the holidays coming up, do not expect me to go light on sugar and fat. It isn't fitting to spend the holidays starving. I will go easier than usual, but I'm not telling him that! (Because easier means eating 6 cookies instead of 12 at a time)
