How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

Rainy cold front passed through our area in the wee hours, then all day has been scattered showers with mid 50F temps. Since the sky has been mostly cloudy with minor breezes providing usable diffuse cloud light for forest photography, spent 4 hours from 9am today hiking in rain half the time. With my new hand's free umbrella set up, went out for a second time and given experience, a bit more prepared. On top of my Levi 505's was wearing both rain pants and rain shell jacket and carrying about 20 pounds of gear including hand carrying my camera/tripod under a large 3 mil plastic bag. So walking with a lot of motion friction from clothing and gear.

Hiked nearly 7 miles up 700 feet of vertical at a county park on trails exploring for first time. Shot 3 fungi and mushroom subjects and a couple mediocre landscapes. Good exercise and interesting nature, but not enough of interest to visit that park again. Inner clothing and all my camera gear remained dry while leaving the umbrella on the whole time. Something to post process tomorrow morning, Tuesday. Wednesday is looking like more hiking given yet another storm moving in.

Over the last few weeks, given a thorough house/car search this morning, seem to have lost a good pair of lightweight waterproof outdoor gloves and one glove of another pair. Probably fell out of pockets.

if things don't turn around in the next day, I'm going to have to take my cat back to the vet,,, not eating or drinking... haven't had a chance to check the litter box but if he"s not urinating, that"s bad, I'm sure. more uncoordinated when he walks or tries to get down off chair but mainly all he's doing is laying under furniture, not moving for hours =( Doesn't seem to be in pain but *something's* not right
Oh, it is the worst feeling when your Pet is not doing well. Hope he/she will be correctly diagnosed and then on to happy days.

BRRRRR!!! It's freezing , as I predicted there's a thick layer of ice over everything this morning. 🥶🥶🥶

It's racing towards 8.30am.. I've just been up to the barn to get tonight dinner out of the freezer to bring indoors to thaw.. and while I was there I turned the dehumidifier on, because as soon as the frost thawing starts then it will make everything cold metal up there..soaking wet...

I;ve got the heating on now, it's far too cold to not have it on....

Have the best Tuesday you can peeps of SF>>.🫶🌺

Having stents (plural) put in my heart early Thurs. morning and this morning I've got to go have blood drawn prior to having the procedure again for some reason.

Having it done early (have to be there by 6:30 a.m.) I'm hoping that they are satisfied that the groin incision clots quickly and that I won't have to spend the night....after having the procedure I've heard that you have to lie perfectly still for about six hours with some sort of weight on the incision.

Hoping for the best but planning for the worst I've got mama a detailed list of names and numbers to call if things don't turn out well....wish me luck.

... but I'm perfectly fine having it on another date which suits me, ... and Christmas day at home on my own is no different to any other day
I feel the same. The last few years I've spent most holidays at home alone and I am fine with that. My son has moved overseas so I don't get to see him and my daughter's husband's parents are divorced so they have to visit both sides of the family which creats a very hectic day for them, I see no reason to add another obligation to their day.

Whadda ya mean it's not that big a deal here??? The Christmas decorations are up at about 25% of houses and it's way to early IMO. Wuz them fightin' words?

Heck, we have 3 churches on our residential street and they will all have midnight services on Christmas Eve. We make it a point to get fat during the holidays, so that we have something to make our New Year's resolutions about. Plus we can moan and groan about how we are never eating anything that tastes great again! That gets everybody feelin' sorry for us, so some of them make us a pie or somethin' to cheer us up!

Our bank accounts border on zero and it takes hours and hours to wrap all the presents. Especially the ones for children. Check with StarSong about baking. Now she ain't an average American cuz she makes 5,000 cookies, but the rest of us aren't too shabby for Normies. And fruitcake! Lots hate it, so they douse the the thing in rum and call it good (if they can still talk after eating all that rum, plus cake of course.)

Lots of people don't like fruitcake who are probably teetotalers. I wonder if Jameson would be good on a fruitcake. Anyhoo, the fruitcake has to soak and be re-drenched for a few weeks or a month before Christmas before it is knee-walkin' good. That means the dose of liquor is perfect - when ya have to walk on yer knees.

The houses get decorated inside and out. OMG, people even gift wrap their kitchen cabinet doors, decorate trees, put out their 600 piece Santa collection, big wreaths on the front doors, use Christmas china, make and imbibe eggnog until the cow's come home, play Christmas music 24/7 until they yearn for July. The women probably daydream about spending next Christmas on holiday somewhere that has a chef and a maid and a babysitting service. I know I did!

And we have at least 4 holiday meals (Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years Day), holiday parties, Christmas Shopping is an Art Form, we drive around and look at decorations, and we attend festive holiday events.

We read Christmas books and watch Christmas shows on TV. Why, my ex-husband (age 82) spends the holidays watching Hallmark Christmas shows on TV. Some people decorate the outside of their cars with antlers and such. Myself, I have always wanted a car with antlers, haven't y'all?
Who the heck declared that Christmas isn't a big deal here? And yes, I've always wanted a car with antlers, and don't forget the red nose!

Good morning to everyone. A nice sunny day, high in mid 80's today.

Had a delivery from Walmart this morning and they forgot one item, so had to complain as I was charged. They issued a refund but had to reorder.

@IKE Best wishes to you with your procedure.

Have a good day, everyone and hope you all stay well. :)

It was that British woman we know and love. The troublemaker. I had to put her in her place, bless her heart. You can thank me later.

The red nose is a great idea! Gosh, there is a tire on the back of my car (that's the spare). I could put the nose on the front bumper and a reindeer butt on the tire case. And maybe signs on the doors saying "This holiday season call us to butcher your dear!" Maybe pick up a few thousand shekels that way! Else how do I explain where the rest of the deer went - the middle part?

I'll save the 4-way stop educational wreath for Christmas 2026 because the cars will have to move and take turns. I have to learn about electricity or batteries or something first.

@WheatenLover and @Georgiagranny, I couldn't agree more about Christmas being THE major holiday of the year. A lot of us pull out all the stops for it. Sure, I do some Halloween decorating, but the house gets dolled up inside and out for Christmas. We'll host four Christmas parties including Christmas Eve, plus Christmas Day.

That's not to say the English are Grinches. @hollydolly recently shared photos of a garden center's spectacular display.

I've long been very skeptical of official rain amounts, especially because my backyard pool's water level changes belie the reports. I put a tub out in an open area of my backyard after the first day of the storm, so I missed that one but caught the rest.

Since there was no earlier rain in November, my monthly totals should be a little less than the official report due to that missed day, right? Note the 3.79" official precipitation total. My ruler shows 5.75". So this storm brought us at least 6" by my reckoning.

I noticed that when I've put out something to measure rain in. Snow too. Except you don't usually need a container for snow since it sticks around.

Maybe it's time for the weather gurus to have two measurements, as they do with temperatures (what's on their thermometers and the "real feel"). Their weird rain gauges versus how much actually splashes down.

Our small town feels like living on the countryside, as seen on my morning walk.

Left: The first time in his life that my 14 m/o puppy meets a horse. 45 years ago, every other house had a horse; now it's becoming rare.
Right: But chickens are plentiful. My wife also has two egg laying ones.

Enlarged: is this a Bald Eagle with a white head? They are nesting in the San Bernardino Mtns and on Alessandro Island in Lake Matthews.

Two sheep with black heads........................................Two goats and a dog (my puppy scared them, and I got only one picture.)
