Thanksgiving in America - November 27th

After dad passed in the spring on 1983, my mother's youngest brother started inviting mom and I to his home for the holiday. He passed in the summer 1997. After that the invitations stopped. I guess his wife didn't want to bother for relatives by marriage. Then mom and I started going to one of those public diners like churches serve. Nice, but they didn't give out seconds or any to take home for a later meal.

In 2006, my mom was days away from passing (but I didn't know that at the time) and she didn't feel like going out, so I ordered two dinners to be delivered to us from the county meal service. They never materialized, so I went out and got two dinners and brought them home. That was the last thing I did for mom. Two days later (Saturday) she was gone.

BTW - If you wondered why the meals were never delivered - I eventually called the county and was told that "we didn't qualify". Why didn't they say that when I first called?

Does anyone bring the whole roasted turkey to the table and then carve it there?

Its been a while but back when if I was hosting a group I would often cook two smaller turkeys.
They cook quicker and its easier to cut it up in the kitchen where no one can see if it flies off the table and lands on the floor.
Besides smaller ones are cuter, and they make a nicer center piece. :D And there more legs for you people that like them things.
