A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we went on a new walk. One we haven’t been on before. It’ starts at the Causeway. The causeway is a roadway made from fallen rocks. It connects Cape Breton Island to Nova Scotia.

It’s a walk that doesn’t really connect to the rest of the trail. It may have at one time but the waves from the ocean washed quite a bit of it away.

We walked about 50 minutes so it was probably between 3 1/2 to 4 kilometres.
It rained part of the walk but it didn’t rain for long and was windy enough to dry us off.
Have a lovely day!View attachment 465856
Wow!
That's both interesting and impressive!
Gosh, thanks for sharing about that, and with your photos!

You’re very welcome Kaila. My pleasure.
We didn’t really go for our normal walk today. We drove to Sydney today to look at snowblowers and found one we are going to get. It’s an Ariel’s Deluxe 28” SHO. It’s a top of the line. Our driveway is approximately 300 feet.

Today is only 2 degrees and very windy. Yesterday was 17 degrees. That’s a significant difference.

We went to the park today which was very windy considering it right beside the ocean.

The ocean is quite wavy today which is expected.

While walking we saw 4 deer which had stopped to see what we were doing. We stopped too so we could take a picture of the nice family. They are a bit camouflaged but if you see the one out front , you can see the faces of all 4 of them. It was a lovely moment.

Unfortunately we had to keep walking which scared them so they got separated. One deer went straight ahead , I think it was the mom and the dad turned around to go back where he originally came from with their young ones.

It made me wonder how they find each other when they separate so I looked it up. Apparently they find each other through their incredible sense of smell. The mother has a sense of smell better than a bloodhound. A mother can track her fawns scent by the glands left in their hooves. A mother also has a certain call that her young can identify.
A fawn wil respond to its mother’s call.
A mother can also recognize her own young by body language.

This is interesting stuff to me.
I hope you find it as interesting.

The lobster boats are getting ready to close the season down. Most of them have their pots in already but some are still behind.

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day.

I like them all as usual but my favorite one has those strong posts in the foreground. They provide a nice contrast to the pretty horizontal horizon.

I’ve been off track the last couple of days. Two days ago we drove into Sydney to look at snowblowers and yesterday missed a walk altogether. It was raining and I wasnt feeling well. Today we went for a forest walk and I didn’t take many photos. The only photo I took was right at the beginning of the pathway. Most of the pictures look the same so it’s somewhat boring but on the way home we saw an eagle which are never boring to look at. At least not to me.

It didn’t stay long. It few off almost as soon as I got out of the car. By the time I’d zoomed in once again, it was almost gone.

Hopefully we’ll find some new things to take pictures of on our daily walks.

We walked 3 kilometres and saw 3 people twice. They were very friendly.

Have a great day.

Don't feel obligated to take pictures every day. That could become a drag. Do it when you feel like it.
I don't get tired of pictures of paths or trails. Where do they lead? Maybe they are a metaphor for life like the path not taken.

I love taking pictures. I never get tired of my everyday walks but sometimes I feel like I’ve taken pictures of the same things over and over again and the last thing I want to do is bore you guys. Thanks for the vote of confidence though. It’s much appreciated.

Today we went to the park again. It was cloudy and 5 degrees Celsius. I know you’ve seen some of these sights before but I took them away.

This is the first sight you see after getting out of the car; the Atlantic Ocean.

This is the town across the bay. I never tire from seeing it.

Most fawns stay with their mother for approximately 2 years. The mother chases off the oldest fawn before she gives birth to another one..

I wonder whether she has a hard time chasing off her fawns. What do you guys think?

I can only relate with my human biology and emotions which leads to a bit of anthropomorphizing the deer. To wit: it would be hard for me to chase off my off spring so I assume it's hard for her.

While I don’t have any children of my own, I also feel it would be difficult for the mother to chase off the young ones..

I wonder whether the older fawn might be likely to harm a younger one;
if so, then it might have a connection to the mother chasing it off ,in order to prevent that.
🤔

Have a great day.

If I was much younger I would be so drawn to your area. The scenery is exquisite and your eye for composition is great.

I love every one of your photos,Patty.
That first one of the Atlantic, I find particularly captivating.
Your framing it with the bit of tarmac/blacktop, along with your caption regarding it, adds to the feeling of wonder.

I agree. And I like the town across the bay. The evergreens in the foreground seem to be inviting us in.
