Question about forum accounts

A question for @Matrix , Can a person have multiple accounts here of Senior Forums?

In my experience, on the many forums that I am a member of, there are strict rules prohibiting multiple accounts/user profiles.

It's common on some forums for posters to have "sock puppet" accounts....additional screen names that support the original posters, "like" everything they post, or attack posters that the OP is having a tiff with.

Quite often, it's easy to pick up on them. They sound just alike, have the same misspellings, and post at the same time of day. Sometimes they're subtle.

Outside of one instance quite a while ago (and the parties are long gone), I don't think we have any here.

There are two instances where I suspect one person has two accounts, each under a different name.

Someone did this on a different forum of which I am a member; however, they didn't use a VPN, and the administrator noted they all (I think the person had three sock puppets) came from the same IP address.

If it's a question referring to my 2 accounts I can respond by saying I made a new account because I couldn't find my original information. I then thought I found it but it wasn't accurate so I enlisted help from Matrix to get back into my original acct. Then he merged the two accounts into one so I now only have one acct.

...no doubt to give their serious Dissociative Identity Disorder some playtime.

Almost four years ago, I decided to take a browse of SF and
take a look around. After a short while I joined. Then I got
busy with life and did not return to post for several months
and by that time, I could not remember my profile name.

So, I put up a new profile and alerted admin to what I was
doing, in case he knew of my prior profile account which
he did not.

So, I have two accounts here, one regularly used and another
not used since beginning of 2022.

and possibly some couples share an internet address and have an account each - they are 2 separate people but coming from one internet address

a forum I was on before you could d o that if you notified Admin that was what was happening.
