Holiday Fruitcakes. Do you like or dislike?

Some people have a notion that fruitcake is not good.
And actually, there are fruitcakes that are not so good.

I myself like Fruitcake and the ones soaked in Bourbon,
my grandmother used to make for my granddad were
wonderful and the entire family enjoyed them.

My mother loved Holiday fruitcakes. She did not make
them but did purchase them, and they were good also.

I received a really very good Fruitcake from
a friend sent over the miles a couple years ago.
Oh, yes that was especially good :) Loved it!

DO YOUR LIKE OR DISLIKE FRUITCAKES?
 

DISLIKE. My mother would send us a Bourbon soaked fruitcake every Christmas. Neither one of us likes fruitcake (or bourbon) so we dated them and stacked them up in the basement. One year we opened a 10 year old one and it looked and smelled the same as the one we had just received. Couldn't tell them apart. We did not try it and put it back on the pile.

I don’t like fruitcake and I don’t drink so there’s nothing that appeals to me. The only thing I liked about my mom’s homemade fruitcakes was the marzipan or almond paste. Loved that stuff.
I did not know there was marzipan in fruitcake! I love it, too. Guess I'll have to start sampling some fruitcake on the cookie trays at parties that will be coming up soon. Okay, no parties, just kidding.
