Do you wrap gifts or use gift bags?

Cheers!
I do both. If the item is in a box or fits nicely in a box, I wrap it. If it’s several small items or an odd shaped item, I use a gift bag. I like the look of a wrapped box but also like that a gift bag can be reused many times. I’ve also started giving gifts in reusable “grocery store” style bags.

Do you wrap gifts or use gift bags?

All of the grandkids’ stuff is wrapped only, no matter its shape.

The adults get either wrapped or bagged, depending on the item. My family knows not to throw away the tissue or bags. They shove the tissue in any available gift bag, and give them back to me. Wrap gets tossed, but the bow and/or ribbon is saved.

I’ve used some of the same bags, ribbon and wrap for decades!

Usually, recycled gift bags and tissue paper..

It kills me if I have to go to the $tore for a new gift bag.

For odd shaped children’s gifts a superhero or Disney themed pillow case can be a good choice.

If all else fails a trash bag usually works.

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one who did this😂😂.

While I don’t “do” Christmas, I do buy a few things for folks that have helped me.

One step above a garbage bag for me is the empty Standlees Timothy Pellet hay bag. One neighbor has odd hours at home, so I plan on returning her food containers, along with some chocolate and peppermint barks from the chocolate shop in the next town over, inside walmart bags, inside the Hay bag.

The hay bag because it is waterproof; I can’t get in their garage to put it in the garage. This way if it rains the chocolate doesn’t get ruined.

she does not have dogs, so I don’t have to worry about dogs ripping the bags open to get the chocolate and causing a vet bill.

I don't have many to buy gifts for anymore. I'm not good at wrapping boxes so I always find a bag and tissue paper, or if it's a money gift (which happens more often these days) it's just enclosed in the birthday or Christmas card I give them. I've never experienced anyone being disappointed in a gift of cash.

It's nice to make the presentation of a gift attractive, but I'm much more concerned that what I give is something they will like, want and use. Over the years, I've received shirts that weren't my size, books I will never read, candles, and decorative "what-nots" that don't fit in with anything in my house. So I try to make a mental note at random times in conversations with friends of some things I see them using, or they've specifically said they like, so I'm comfortable that what I give is okay.

Some things I give may seem odd but I don't care. For example, I know one person who is always mailing cards and letters - so I've given her books of postage stamps. Walnuts, Kit-Kat candy bars, and and black gel writing pens are favorites of another person, so I put those in a gift sack along with cash inside a greeting card.

I have always found it kinda superficial to give gifts for a certain holiday. I give gifts all year long to people, animals, and people who know not from where it came. A month or so ago, I paid the vet bill for a young man who had a sick cat but could not afford the bill. People have enough stuff in general, it's the ones that don't that I look for.

While in school maaaany years ago I lived in my car for a year. It was not pleasant.

I am a wrapper... LOVE it and even wrap sometimes for friends.
I have a bin of fancy ribbons and a variety of papers, and I make each gift unique.
Im a wrapper too. I miss it. In the past I used to wrap my clients packages for them.
I still have all my collection of papers and ribbon and vintage package decorations.
I started wrapping my presents with the top separate from the bottom so the giftee
didnt have to destroy my handiwork to get the box open.

I also like to use "useful" wrappings. For example baby gifts get wrapped in a banket and fastened with baby pins with a small bear tucked in a pocket.

If you dont appreciate my handiwork you get a gift bag. :D

I pay someone to do my wrapping. If I wrapped the gifts that I buy, the presents would look like they were wrapped by a third grader.

Well, for the most part, people who give me presents in a gift bag is a slight pet peeve of mine. Anyone can wrap a gift in a simple manner, which shows their sincerity. IMO there's no good reason to go to the trouble of buying a gift for someone at Christmas, then throw it into a commercial bag. Half the fun is the anticipation when unwrapping the present.

Even though I'm a man, I take the time to wrap gifts to the best of my ability. I grew up in a family where all the women relatives tried to artistically out do each other by taking pains to attractively wrap gifts-- especially at Christmas. So I started the routine then, and have kept it up since. I'm hardly an artist, but the presents look great under the tree, and I can tell that most people notice the effort when they open their gifts.
