Youtube ads are out of control!

I use brave on my desktop and phone and tablet. I never see ads on YouTube on my desktop. I occasionally see ads on my other devices while I am on YouTube with Brave. The YouTube App that is necessary to watch certain movies is a very commercial product, like most all applications.

Well you know when I put up a browser adblocker it "sorta" works, there's a noticeable pause before the video. But, that's on a desktop, sometimes I want to cast YT content to a smartTV, and have to deal with that different interface.
Free content relies on ads to earn money on there.

I believe it's like Twitch, they get paid for running ads.

I looked it up, they get 1 to 3 cents per ad. Twitch gives gamers 3.50. It's to encourage you to purchase a membership.

The one that's really annoying is the AdventHealth commercial where they play that annoying song "When You're Smiling." That commercial is played over and over, every %$#@! day. It's making me %$#@! sick.

I watch YouTube on my smart TV, and there's no adblocker for smart TVs as far as I know.

Yes, that's a problem with viewing Youtube on my TV as well, whether using the YT app on the TV or casting with my phone. It's actually worse, because there's no interface feature to allow you to skip the commercial when prompted.

does the remote have an up and down section for like scrolling through programming? if so, you might be able to use it to scroll up and then click the enter button to skip it. that's how i skip the recaps and the intro of a program.

I don’t know the reason for all the ads, but my guess would be that the ads are necessary, so YouTube can make payments to the podcasters and other people putting in free picture slides and films of their vacations. A lot of monetizing going on on their channel. They have paid out millions to political podcasters, which if you ever watch one, all it amounts to is clips off of other channels like CNN, FOX, etc.

No..!..I just presume my ad blocker that I have installed on my computer to prevent me getting ADS anywhere.. works on Youtube
Give it time. They've worked hard to stop me from watching with my ad blocker. For several months now I've been warned that using an ad blocker was not allowed. They've been able to block me a couple of times now.

yep , see I've never had any notifications like that about my ad blocker.... and I have my own channel as well, and never been told to unblcok my ad blocker..

I think Nathan is right. The ads are out of control. Anything more than an option to skip the ad in 5 seconds is an automatic escape button for me. There are two reasons I can understand for flooding entertainment with ads 1)The assumption most people will watch anyway or 2)to sell you their premium package. I tend to think it's 2). But there is nothing on Utube that I would pay to watch, and I'm not going to pay not to watch ads on utube. I'm sure not going sit around watching ads. I got rid of TV because of that. Ads do not contribute to my enjoyment of life. Well, maybe that coffee percolator thing from the 1960s.

Every time ads come on I'm just reminded of how much money I'm saving by not purchasing premium.

I also decided that ad blockers are more annoying than skipping ads.

"Reload page" button skips ads also. So if the ad is long, reload and YouTube replaces it with a shorter ad that gets you to the "skip" button quicker.

You tube needs viewers more than we need subscriptions. So we always own the winning hand.

Which means that they are not trying to get you to go away, they're just trying to convince you that the ads are enough to get you to pay up for premium. I grew up watching TV with commercials, it's nothing new.

i agree whole heartedly. i was just explaining why there's so many ads is all. i sure as hell ain't payin for youtube. lol!

The nag to get me to turn off my ad blockers started a couple of months ago. Yes, there are three ad blocking extensions on my computer. Then finally a few days ago they completely blocked me from watching videos. So I switched browsers, that worked for a few days then they started blocking me from that one too.

I can turn off two of my ad blockers and watch, most of the time.
