Around the holidays at that. They say these things happen in threes. One could say he was the 3rd after the mass shootings this weekend. This is so sad. Too many people have been lost recently. RIP
Murder is horrifying whenever it happens, but to be killed by your own children... these children you've given everything to in the vast majority of cases.. and loved.... to die at their hands is just another level of evilWhat a shocking, sad ending ending to such a stellar lifetime full of creative work and advocacy for social justice. RIP Rob and Michelle.
can you imagine the horror by the parents. The likelihood is he snuck up behind them both and slashed their throats ( they do say the throat slashing was the cause of their deaths)... but it;s possible that they might have been sitting in their armchiars.. and one might have witnessed the other being killed and maybe tried to escape..I think he'll probably get a life sentence. The judge took away his bail, because he was considered too dangerous to risk it. I have no doubt he has "mental problems," but the public needs to be protected from him. He sounds likely to end up being killed in a prison fight.
What a tragedy. His parents were such good people.
His son may have indeed been homeless. I read he was homeless in three different cities. When people are strung out, no telling the choices they'll make. I have a step-son who is a very handsome young man. He chose to be homeless in Baltimore rather than live with at least two women who would have welcomed him. Sometimes they don't want to follow the rules of where they'll be staying. That's why many say no to shelters.I have a hard time believing that Nick Reiner was destitute and living on the streets. I think when he claims he was "homeless," he might have been staying in hotels or living with friends.
Rob Reiner was a generous and compassionate person and not the type who would just cut off his son. The two had a good relationship.
So the question is, what the hell happened?
He's on suicide watch. They often find a way... and my personal thought is that he won't make it to trial. He'll probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
I have read he suffers from a mental illness, so I would imagine suicide is possible. I hope the guards in his prison keep a watch. No matter what, he’s a human and deserves to go to trial and if he’s found to be mentally ill and can’t stand trial, we will have to live with it. I don’t know what they do in California. Some states treat a mentally ill convict until they can stand trial, if they are able, but some prisoners are never able to stand trial. He's on suicide watch. The person who cannot handle hard drugs doesn't necessarily have poor self-control or a warped mind (whatever that is.) Many factors could contribute to drugs having a devastating effect on a person. The age of first use is important as a brain still growing in a 15 year-old is different than one of a 25 year old. The brain of someone with a genetic tendency toward mental illness is also different. Not everyone who eats a high carbohydrate diet will get diabetes, because insulin sensitivity varies from one pancreas to another. The person who enjoys cake and candy everyday and never gets diabetes is not superior to the one who does, just luckier.. What one person with good self control and behavior can handle at some level of drug use effectively to make enjoyment of their life better, without impacting others, or damaging their own bodies, may not be so for the next person with poor self control and a warped mind.
I don't think prohibition, backed by good law enforcement, has been given a good chance.Black and white prohibition has proven to be unworkable while open freedom of any drug use has likewise proven to make society worse, thus is unwise.
I don't know what they're going to do, but something may be in the works already... he's not been "medically cleared" to appear in court. I think you're probably right about the insanity plea.Being in L.A., one never knows what will happen in a trial when celebrities are involved. The defense may enter a plea of temporary insanity. If the kid planned it, it's capital murder. But something tells me he won't get anything like a life sentence.
I've seen and heard reports they were found in bed with their throats slit but don't know if they were posed or that's where he took them out. Wonder if he knew they took sleeping pills let alone their schedule. That's premeditation. They say knife attacks are personal as well.can you imagine the horror by the parents. The likelihood is he snuck up behind them both and slashed their throats ( they do say the throat slashing was the cause of their deaths)... but it;s possible that they might have been sitting in their armchiars.. and one might have witnessed the other being killed and maybe tried to escape..
It's just something I hope that most of us will never experience from our kids....
