We're good. What happened?
I'm in the westernmost province of Canada, some people think of it as Canada's California. But I'm rather far from the actual Pacific coastline.that you're okay!

Georgiagranny, what prompted your OP?
Yes, we had the atmospheric river bestow a pounding rainfall maybe a week or so ago. The actual deluge was fairly short at my location, but the electrical power went out for about seven hours.News of catastrophic rainfall. It's everywhere online and TV.
Same for my daughter, a week or so ago, not now.Yes, we had the atmospheric river bestow a pounding rainfall maybe a week or so ago. The actual deluge was fairly short at my location, but the electrical power went out for about seven hours.
I’m farther north than JBR and got the same a week ago. There was a suggestion of a second atmospheric river that never made it here.Yes, we had the atmospheric river bestow a pounding rainfall maybe a week or so ago. Update: we're getting quite a soaking, 30+ MPH winds driving rain in from the South. I have no doubt that we'll get the 2-3 inches of rain, as forecast. This areas annual rain fall average is 5 inches, I have no doubt that we'll get the 2-3 inches of rain, as forecast and will meet or exceed the average, by the end of the season. It's chilly and overcast, wind is picking up. Supposed to get maybe an inch of rain in the next 12-24 hours.

We left the Bay Area over ten years ago, with no regrets, but you did remind me of the trash collecting in the streams. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, vast urban region, homeless people this last decade have colonized many of our urban stream channels that usually have lots of trees and vegetation they can hide within and over time lots of trash accumulates. These are streams that have small runs of giant salmon. These AR storms can be so heavy that much of the trash is swept out to the huge abused by trash and pollution south part of San Francisco Bay that has been ongoing for nearly 2 centuries but for which there is much effort to clean up as much as is possible. So good that trash is flushed out but bad that it ends up in the bay.
