Can't use image/photo from desktop?

First I'd tried to make a post with an image on my desktop.. didn't work.
Next, tried to put in an avatar picture.. same results.
Any idea what the problem is?

I also try to post photos from my laptop and it neer works. A notice telling me they need to be only jpeg. How do I use anything that isn't jpeg?
Dusty.
You need to open your image in "Photo Editing" program,
then you need to "Export" it, you will be given a choice of
what kind of image you would like to have, JPG, PNG, TIF,
GIF, there are many different types, my old editor has 11
variations on offer.

JPG is the same as JPEG.

This forum only accepts Jpg images....

As for the OP....@Sunkist...you're new to the forum, you can't post photos until you've been a member for a certain amount of time, or made a certain amount of posts

Yes, I've experienced the non jpeg failure. The trouble is that the editor gives you some other useless reason for the failure, usually that the file is to large, which it is not the problem, so you have no idea how to solve the problem. It seems like programming has come up with other formats for photos. I don't know why. Jpeg was the standard, and a good one.

I solved the problem on my own, by changing the format with my photo editing software. It was an intuitive guess. Sometimes my intuition works. Sometimes, not so much.

I'm happy to work with the random fact that the site either will or allow me to share photos. It's either your loss or you're spared...

It took me years to figure out what my photo editing software would do. I only use about 5% of it's capability, but I use that 5% a lot.

I think the easiest way is bookmark this site: Online PNG to JPG image converter and use it to change any pic to jpeg. (Somebody here on SF told me about it, don't remember who, sorry but a belated thanks!)
I don't think it could get any easier than that, even for the least computer savvy. So many times, I've run into something and said, "I wish the internet could do this," only to realize that someone had already thought of it. Same with software, I'd have a brilliant flash about some software that could...., only to find out someone had already done it.
