Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good morning Kaila & Gang! I'm living on the set of Frozen according to what I see from the windows. Everything is solid ice after a sleet and freezing rain storm yesterday. I'm so glad I don't need to go anywhere for a few days yet! There were many accidents in the area yesterday and last night and sadly, some were fatal. :cry: I hope everyone here is staying safe and warm.

It's cold here today, but I feel blessed that we haven't had ice or snow as our @CallMeKate, and @RadishRose are having to deal with today. Yeesh; you guys stay safe and warm. 🥰

I'm back on my regular schedule today which means quitting it with the cookies already.
Well, maybe one. ;)

Husband is working a closing shift tonight and as you'll know from my whining about it, boyfriend is away in London.

I've finished all my "things" for the day and am settling with my PC game and maybe some AHL hockey.

Wishing everyone here a lovely, peaceful and warm Saturday afternoon. 🥕🥕

Honestly this past 10 days and the next 10, are some of my most difficult ones, each year.

Each time I handle it the best I am able, which vascillates many times, every 24 hours. 🙄😵‍💫🙁

Once again, I'll hang on, and continue to cope.

Your presence and the responses and various wonderful forms of input, here, mean so much to me.

Apparently, an annual Christmas Bird Count is done here between December 14 and January 5th. I'll be interested to see if it is significantly different this year as compared to last year.

I'm glad you brought this up because I wasn't aware it was a thing and I'm interested. :)

Thank you for that idea. It was good for me to spend a few minutes, to look it up.
And yes they do. I probably will not directly participate in it, but it was a welcome suggested action, for me to look.
 
I wasn't able to sleep, during the much needed nap time, this afternoon;
but at least I rested, I always tell myself when that happens.

Then I managed to do a bit of cleanup in the kitchen, (in order to make supper prep possible🙄)

And I finally got the first one of my amaryllis bulbs, into a pot with a bit of soil and sand.

It has grown 2 bud stalks that are a foot tall!
Without any soil or water!

But I had never waited that long before, and did not want to wake up one morning and find it collapsed; Or to learn that the buds perhaps could not develop petals without water from the roots.

So I'm glad it's in a pot now, and the pot is setting in a deep saucer of warm water.

So that it might think it's in a warm tropical paradise instead of freezing snow country.

We didnt get any additional snowfall yesterday or today, after the large amount we had gotten.
But it was extremely cold out, yesterday and today. 😬

Tomorrow is going to have sunshine and then snow, and then warm up and have freezing rain. 🙄

Haven't been out and not planning to go out.

The RSPB in UK does an annual 'Big Garden Birdwatch' and I've just recently sent for the pack which contains a leaflet with all the different birds to look for. As I don't have a garden, only a very small concreted yard, I go to the nearby park and doing my birdwatching there and this has to be done over a period of one hour, ticking off the different species and the number of each species seen. I can then submit my findings online.

I'm looking forward to it. 🐦🦅

It's freezing here again today, but not snowing so I'll take the win.

Not feeling great today; I think there's a low-grade something going around my house. I've been tired, headache-y and struggling with tummy issues, but only intermittently and it never really turns into anything. Weird. I mean, I'd rather it didn't develop, so all good, I guess. 🤷‍♀️

@Pinky, that picture is awesome. :)

@Kaila, glad you're not going out in the cold weather today.

Good morning, Kaila & Friends. Trusting everyone is safe and warm this morning. After the sleet storm that came through here on Friday, there was freezing rain and it's doing that again this morning. I made a decision that I had better do the groceries yesterday morning and I'm very glad I did. It started about an hour after I returned.

Seriously hoping that your night was better than the one before, @Kaila . Also hoping that today is a lot better for you!

Sorry to hear you're getting all that ice, too, @RadishRose . The way I look at it, snow is better than all that ice!

I don't know of an annual bird count in my area, @Jules , but you've inspired me to research it. Maybe I was simply not aware. There are always plenty of juncos in my backyard along with cardinals.

Good morning. Hope that you are feeling better today @Kaila and you too @Medusa 🤗 🥕

I will be having an overnight 'guest' tonight... Rocco. My son, his partner and my granddaughters are all going to one of his partner's relatives for the evening. Unfortunately, Rocco is excluded because he can't/won't behave. :ROFLMAO: Rocco's brother will be there though but he's the opposite, a really well behaved dog.

I have to add that Rocco is well behaved when he is with me, it's only when his mum is around that he misbehaves. ;) He absolutely adores her and wants her constant attention and gets up to mischief if he doesn't get it.

Hope the weather has improved for those of you that are going through a cold spell at the moment. @RadishRose , the one thing I really hate is icy weather!

I'm popping in over my morning coffee today instead of after second dog walk. You know, just to shake things up because I'm such a rebel. 😅

@Pam, I think it's sweet that Rocco behaves for you when he won't for his mom (mum). Nice that you get to spend so much time with him. 🐩

Today, as I am still in holiday season mode, I will bake some cookies; we're getting low. 😅 Last time It was Peanut Butter and Snickerdoodles. So today, I'm thinking Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip using M&Ms. Totally planning on blasting holiday music over the headphones whilst baking, again. I'm not giving this season up till 01.02.26.

Wishing all of you truly lovely people a nice hopefully not-too-cold, Monday.
